This is a real magnificent rock-blues album! One of the best I have ever came across. 2.0 out of 5 stars A bit more heart please.
Even with the "Double Trouble" rhythm section on tap this guy still comes across
as a pretty ordinary blues songwriter/player.
I'm sure he is a nice enough chap but his style does not turn my dial.

This is a real magnificent rock-blues album! One of the best I have ever came across. Many people like to compare Albert Cummings with the great SRV, however I believe that no comparison should be made, Albert is Albert with his own stile and feelings. He has got a very, I believe, personal style that makes him emerge from the crowd and that makes him unique in the rock-blues firmament. "From the heart" is almost the perfect rock-blues album that shouldn't be missed by any rock-blues fan. Fantastic!

5.0 out of 5 stars WoW - Doesn't Get Any Better Than This !, September 21, 2004
This review is from: From the Heart (Audio CD)
I had the immense pleasure of seeing Albert's show at Revolution Hall in Troy, NY recently .. he was fabulous and I, of course, immediately purchased the CD. It has yet to leave the CD player in my car and I lost count of how many people have driven with me & then immediately gone out to buy the CD after hearing it - it's that good. Albert's passion for his music is apparent on the CD, even more so live, but either way it is something he shares with his audience/listener. It has been a while since I have been so enthusiastic about an artist, but perhaps even longer that an artist came along such as Albert that is so deserving of the accolades. I can not recommend him highly enough and as soon as I can preorder his next CD, which I hear has Stevie Ray Vaughan's old band, Double Trouble, as back-up, I will be the first in line.... and when he plays at Revolution Hall again for a CD release party, I will being showing up with a huge contingent of friends and family that are all now fans as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars From The Heart, May 13, 2006
This review is from: From the Heart (Audio CD)
Possibly the best guitarist to come along in a long time.

In the same vein as Stevie Ray Vaughan, but not at all an impersonator.

He's got it all, and was sought out by SRV's rhythm section, to record an album and tour.

That says enough in itself, but the songs, searing guitar, and his songwriting and vocals, are all you need to hear, to believe.

This album was recorded before he was signed to Blind Pig Records.

I've seen Albert three times live, bought From the Heart after the first set I saw . I loved it! The second time I saw Albert,8/2/03 (my B'day),he was opening for Buddy Guy in VT.The set was awesome so I bought his first cd, also very good, which Albert signed first.I just saw Albert 8/19/04 in Guilderland,NY. and another Smokin' set was enjoyed by all! He told me I have to wait until 10/2/04 for his next cd. I know I'll be at Troy's Revolution Hall cd release show to pick up my copy. I can't wait!

5.0 out of 5 stars The next major blues star!, November 14, 2003
By A Customer

Albert Cummings is fantastic. This CD is solid from start to finish and gives you a glimpse of how great of a performer Albert is in concert. You don't get that captured on a blues studio recording very often but this is one of those times where that greatness shines through.

Tell everyone to pick up this CD!

There's no awe inspiring warp speed guitar playing on this cd but the tone, vocals and band make it a top 10 in my collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Future of the Blues?, March 20, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: From the Heart (Audio CD)
I just listened to the latest CD from Albert Cummings called From The Heart with Tommy Shannon, Chris Layton, Reese Wymans (Double Trouble). Man it's good. The review I read before I bought it was titled "I have met the future of the blues, and it is Albert Cummings". I won't go that far yet but a few more listens and more CD's like this, I might be there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Blues. Great Buy. Period., September 24, 2003

I recently listened to Albert Cummings' new CD, "From the Heart" while I was on my way to Troy, NY to see him perform live at Revolution Hall. I had heard just one track prior to that, "Your Own Way" which is also featured on the CD, and thought that it was a great blues-rock song. The remaining album does not disappoint either, with tracks like "I Got Feelings Too," and "Barrel House Blues."
After one listen, I could certainly see why Stevie Ray Vaughan's band, "Double Trouble" not only wanted to produce this album for Albert, but decided he was a worthy enough guitarist to back him up on the entire CD! The result is a great blues-rock album that sports a tasty mix of toe-tapping rhythms and down-n-dirty blues. Albert Cummings is admittedly heavily influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughan, but the most refreshing quality to both this CD and Albert's playing is his ability to hook you with phrasing reminiscent of SRV, yet at the same time break loose with a style uniquely his own--the signature of any truly great--and original--guitarist.
If Albert Cummings continues to put out discs like "From the Heart" you'll be proud to slide them into your collection, right next to your well-worn copies of great blues albums from SRV, Eric Clapton, and Johnny Winter!
