Fred is my uncle so I've been around his music for a long time now, and this is my favorite of all his albums. I remember him singing Heart of the Appoloosa to me when I was younger, and I can still recall the strength and emotion in his voice. This is a wonderful CD, and its message remains current and powerful.

I have seen Fred Small several times in concert, and these songs are some of his best. From the humorous (Talking Wheelchair Blues) to the grim (Face at the Window) to the poignant (Heart of the Appaloosa, Larry the Polar Bear) to the political (No More Vietnams) to the inspirational (Peace Is), Fred knows how to write and sing about the human condition like no one I have ever heard.

I just recieved "THE HEART OF THE APPALOOSA" CD. I haven't heard Fred Small in many years, he use to do concerts at my Church in Chicopee,MA and his songs really make you think about the problems in the world today.

I have been looking for some Fred Small cd's for a while now and was so happy to find them!! If you like good Folk music then give him a try he sings about political stuff and some of his stuff can be quite funny despite it's serious topics.

Very good cd,I would and will tell everyone to buy this one,any appaloosa horse lovers out there really need this one.But the other songs are just as good,just all around great music.

Fred Small's music is wonderful and full of heart and passion, in the spirit of Peter, Paul, and Mary. I would suggest anyone who loves John Denver or Peter, Paul, and Mary, obtain this album!
