Being a bass player and listening to primarily fusion/jazz, I knew John Patitucci's album "Heart of the Bass" would be different. His blend of classical music and the electric bass is tastefully done, providing a very entertaining listen that clearly demonstrates Patitucci's amazing talent. Patitucci also showcases his immense upright-bass skill throughout many songs. Different, but very good.

If you like good bass, you'll never stop listening to this album. John does what Al Di Meola does but with two less strings or bow (sometimes) and a love for the instrument that pushes everything Ray, Oscar, Charlie and Serge did to another level. If John were around when Miles was looking into fusion or Bill Evans was looking into mellow, Patitucci would be the man.

I have had this for years. I still listen to it now and then. This is very different from John's work with Chick Corea Elektric Band.
