A CONVENIENT BRIDE

Burdened by Family debts, Heather Ashford has no choice but to exchange her dreams of romance and accept the proposal of ruggedly handsome cattle baron Sloan McCord. However the widowed rancher is more than she bargains for. Tormented by a deep sorrow, Sloan keeps his heart well guarded, even as he sets her body on fire night after night. But each time Heather gazes into his ice blue eyes, she realizes she wants more from this man than his passion--she wants his love.

AN IRRESISTIBLE GROOM But Sloan McCord has vowed never to love again. Although his infant daughter needs a mother, he doesn't want--or need--a wife. He is surprised that Heather, an elegant citybred lady, turns his remote Colorado ranch house into a home, and tenderly cares for his child. She is beginning to haunt his thoughts by day and steal his breath by night--and this he cannot have if he is to keep a safe distance. Does his fierce bride of convenience have the strength to heal his broken heart--before he breaks hers?

"Nicole Jordan charms and captivates."--Jillian Hunter, New York Times bestselling author

New York Times bestselling author Nicole Jordan spins delightful tales that simmer with passion and sensuality. In her former life, Nicole grew up as an Army brat, moving frequently and attending high school in Germany. She later earned a civil engineering degree from Georgia Tech and spent eight years as a manufacturing manager making disposable diapers and toilet tissue! Currently Nicole lives in the Rocky Mountains of Utah with her real-life hero (her husband) and beloved kids (her horses).

With over two-dozen historical romances to her credit and five million books in print, set in numerous eras and locales, Nicole now enjoys chronicling the sparks that fly when Regency lovers play the matrimonial mating game.

One of her novels had the dubious honor of being humorously spotlighted by Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show." On a more serious note, Nicole's romances regularly appear on numerous bestseller lists, including The New York Times, Publishers Weekly, and USA Today, and have earned such honors as RITA finalist, RWA's Favorite Book of the Year, theRomantic Times Career Achievement Award for Historical Romance, and the Dorothy Parker Award of Excellence, presented by a group of over one hundred romance reviewers.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Heartbreaker, June 13, 2000

Sloan McCord was reall possessed with his dead wife. But his wife who was a Cheyenne Indian left him to raise a little girl. Sloan needed a mother for his daughter and a wife. He really didn't want to love her, but have her for looks and for to raise his young daughter. What he got was not what he figured.

He meets Heather Ashford a once well to do young woman with schooling and social skills. Heather now in debt from her father's careless gambling receives a letter from a dear friend that seems to have a solution to her problem. She accepts the offer from Sloan to become his wife and in return he pays her debts.

The electricity between these two are so awesome. Sloan denies she effects him in any way. Heather falls hopelessly in love with Sloan.

Sloan really made me angry with the way he was treating Heather. I found myself talking to the book. He was ridiculous with his comparisons of her and his dead wife.

My first Nicole Jordan novel was The Seduction. After reading it, I decided to find all of her books. She is a wonderful writer that seems to bring her characters to life.

5.0 out of 5 stars In a word.....AWESOME!!!, March 15, 1999

I am not a huge fan of Western historicals, I usually read Medievel, but I was so swept up in this book that I want to read all of Ms. Jordans other books. This book was awesome! Not very many books make my heart physically ache but this one did. I felt so bad for Heather. How could she not love the hell out of Sloan. What a man. I did think that he was a huge jerk to her throughout the entire book and I think she should have let him sweat a little more before she went back to him but I understand why she had a hard time resisting him. I am very impressed with Nicole's writing. It is fast paced and she draws you in to a hot (and I mean hot!) luscious story. I can't wait to read the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Made me want to run out and buy all her past books!, March 19, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Heart Breaker (Mass Market Paperback)
Sloan McCord needed a mother for his half Indian daughter. Unable to defile the memory of his deceased wife, Doe, he arranges a marriage to Heather Ashford.

Heather's family debts made her close the doors to her school. Even though she had never met him, she agreed to Sloan's proposal of marriage by letter.

Work on the ranch was hard, but Heather came to love it. Janna was like her own daughter and times with Sloan were hot. As Heather grew to love all of it, she ached for the love Sloan could not give her in return.

With her help, Sloan won the election for Senate. Now he was losing Heather all by himself.

***One of the best historical romances I've read. I have hope that other characters I am fond of will have their own story. Nicole can make some powerful men in her stories!***
