Most Helpful Customer Reviews

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful By David Lee on July 11, 2012
Format: Paperback
"Heartbridge" and its companion book, "A Heart to Belong" show the power of the love and gospel of Jesus Christ. Romanian children were emotionally and physically scarred through poverty, the ruthlessness of the Communist regime, and alcoholic parents (like the father who terrorized his family, and eventually killed the mother in front of their 8 children). When these youngsters were placed in the loving protection of the conservative Mennonite orphanage, healing happened. Forgiveness flowed from the wounded youngsters toward their errant fathers and mothers. Lives were transformed from insecurity and hatred, to confidence in God's love. At times families were reunited; other times the young people were rasied at the orphanage, trained, given trades, and enabled to live successfully and meaningfully as adults with hope. This book pulls at the heart; causing serious reflection. How do I treat my children/grandchildren? Do I show them the God of truth and love in what I say and do? Do I care for those who have no security in God's love? How can I make a difference? An excellent book for teenagers and adults.
