Our daughter's first birthday party was Care Bear themed and I went all out for it. Friends said it was like walking into Care-a-lot when they walked in the room. We had asked for no gifts but of coarse very close friends and family members had to get her something. This item was given to her by Godparents and we all love it.

If you remember Teddy Ruxben from the 80's it's kind of like him but cooler becasue it's a Care Bear! Hers was a special set that came with 3 books and cartridges for classic stories but with a Care Bear twist of coarse. It's little mouth moves just like it's actaully telling the story and our daughter LOVES that! She really has gotten into books and wanting to sit and read since she got this little guy.

The only complaint that we have it that we need more stories but I emailed the company taht makes it and they said they would be tons out for Christmas. Also, make sure to buy lots of batteries as we change them every three to fours days but that is due to how much we use him.

Absolutely adorable toy! This Care Bear moves its mouth when it tells its story and comes with a book for the child to read along with it. The only bad thing is that there are only 4 (I think) cartridges for it right now. I hope that the company puts out more...and I bet they will closer to Christmas. If your child likes Care Bear's then they will love this!

We just bought this toy and we're very happy. We have not had problems with it, but it does seem to go through a lot of batteries. I do agree that it needs more books and as of now, December 19th there are still just four. Overall we love it!!!

Two of the three units at the store did not function. The 3rd worked only once after we brought it home. Tried everything - batteries - switch - cartridge - nothing worked. Must not be made very well in my opinion.

My daughter got this bear as a Christmas gift and absolutely loved it. Within a month the eyes and mouth stopped working but still reads the story. I contacted the MFG and they said I have to ship the bear back to them in order to get a replacement. I don't understand why I should be expected to pay for S&H on a product that lasted less than a month. They then suggested I take it back to the store where it was purchased, well it was a gift and we don't have the box it came in nor a receipt...how's that going to work? I've been so frustrated with the whole thing the poor bear has just been sitting on a shelf waiting patiently to be replaced. I'm very disappointed in this product. I grew up with Care Bears and adored them, I wanted the same for my daughter. It's just too bad that they don't make toys like they use to.

My [...] daughter loves this bear, but it only came with one book for [...]!! And now that the overpriced stories aren't included I've got to find the other ones, which is impossible! Nobody has them and this toy said it came out in 2005. Even when I do find them there are only 3 others and they are overpriced, I wish I would have seen that before I bought it!

My 3 month old daugter recived this toy from her Granfather for Christmas. At first I thought it was kindof silly for a 3 month old, but I turned it on and set it next to her and she loves her. She stares at it, laughs, and babbles to it is it so cute to watch. And it is safe! She will listen to it for hours. I just wish there were more storys available for it. Even it she doesnt mind I would like to hear something different. I already know the care bears version to all the storys my heart!!

I hadnt really looked much at this product. My 3 year old daughter recieved it got Xmas from her grandparents. It has been a hit for her!!

She also received 3 more books to use with it!

SHE Loves to sit and hold the book for her carebear to see and "read". It fits in her lap pretty well too.

SO far we have had no problems. My niece who also recieved one did have problems with the mouth working properly I guess.

PROS:

Designed well to remain stable when seated with a figity preschooler.

Does not have an overly loud or soft voice, great for both parent and child. And it is a nice voice to listen to.

Desiging the "keyring" to hold the cartridges and keep them in one place.

the books are a great size and HARDCOVER big bonus IMO!!!! SIck of products cutting cornors and adding flimsy small paper\cardboard and passing them off as books or play pieces.

the movements it makes while reading are pretty smooth BUT loud.

CONS

like I said it is a bit loud with it movements, but not too bad IMO.

my only real complaint would be the cartridge "door\flap" on the bear. I have a hard time getting in there to change them, it could have been designed a bit bigger.

OVerall the CONS for me arent bad at all and only minor peronal preferences

My Daughter (2yr old) got this for X-mas. She loves it!! She takes this everywhere. She has dropped it several times and it keeps on going. I have only 2 problems wih it. First the batteries that came with it were totally dead, but thats not really that big of a problem all batteries die. Second I can only find 2 other books that go with this sweet bear, I really hope they get some more books out here.

My daughter received the bear for her 3rd b-day and when I put the batteries in it, the connection for the batteries to the bear was not tight enough, so I need to exchange it for a new one. Toy's R Us said (even without the box) and because I have the receipt, they would do an even exchange. So, that will be the plan for the weekend. My daughter is looking forward to reading with her bear! Hopefully we will be giving a better review once we get the new one.
