5.0 out of 5 stars O Tina, Our Lord is Come, September 8, 2006

This review is from: In the Heart of the City (Audio CD)
Rarely does one come across such aural splendor as that displayed by Miss Tina Diamond. Upon hearing this heavenly diva's sweet swan song, you will realize that your life is no longer your own; rather, there is now life before Tina and life after Tina, the present is simply a time to pay homage to Her. Each day I wake and bathe myself in her splendor, washing the previous night's sins clean, thus allowing me to accept Tina into my life and have a personal relationship with Her.

After repeated listenings it becomes clear that "In the Heart of the City" is simply a metaphor for the futility of the lives we lead. The 'City' in question is the corporal body while the 'Heart' of this city is the soul - empty, barren, and devoid of anything positive...until Tina. Tina is love, friendship, kindness, and growth. She is strength, courage, forgiveness and light. In your darkest hour, turn to Her, for this Diamond shall illuminate the righteous path.

5.0 out of 5 stars The fog has parted; thank you Tina!, September 8, 2006
This review is from: In the Heart of the City (Audio CD)
Around amazon you will find lots of lists such as '50 albums you must hear before you die' or reviews claiming that an artist's message has changed one's life. My skeptical nature always held me back from buying into that kind of promise, however I now see the err of my ways. I was distant, emotionally and spiritually unconnected with my own soul. I had no 'honey poo' relationship in my life to borrow from Tina's catalog of catchy and intoxicating language yarns. This all changed a few years ago when I first heard the message within a Miss Diamond cassette, and by all accounts she is aptly named because believe you me it was a jem. The cassette was being given away and I found it laying in a cardboard box outside a boarded up record shop in Champaign IL. I think the static, and magnetic sound of a tape is spicier and lends itself to the dynamics of a Tina album. Her voice will howl at you and penetrate to your essence as you travel through this record. By the time you reach 'Somebody Wants You' it is clear you will never be alone again. The middle meat of the album (such as 'Let me be the One' and 'Spend the Night') is filled with sensually cleansing numbers written to coax more of a forbidden fruit from the listener's orchard. Fear not as even the lonely down-trodden gambler will fild solice in the final ballad of 'Casion Queen'. Overall the record has a place in its warm embrace for any vegabond. Be it a shoulder to cry on or a pillowy bosom to rest a tired head. Will you be the next to enter the heart of the city?
