I read the entire 'MacKade Brothers' series. They are all great, but THE HEART OF DEVIN MACKADE is my favorite.

Sheriff Devin MacKade has been in love with Cassie Dolin for 12 years. He loved her when she was just a girl and he loved her all the time she was married to her abusive husband. This is their story. It is a beautifully written and emotional love story. I especially loved Devin MacKade: strong, sexy, and gentle.

This is the third book in the series. Devin and Cassie intrigued me from the very start of the series in THE RETURN OF RAFE MACKADE.

I loved this story of Devin MacKade, town sheriff, and Cassie Dolin, a woman he's loved for twelve years and who was married to a man that physically and emotionally abused her. Devin is a patient and thoughtful man who fell in love with Cassie's children and helped them heal from their experience living in an abusive environment. Cassie's transformation was realistic and Devin's limitations on his patience was understandable but long overdue. His sensitivity endeared him to me and has him be a standout from his brothers. The climax of the story was exciting and the final scene was a definite tear jerker. This is my favorite of the MacKade Brothers series.

"The Heart of...... was just wonderful! As a matter of fact, I like this one even better than "Rafe." Cassie Dolin and Devin Mackade were meant to be together. I had been dying to read the story of Devin and Cassie since the return of Rafe Mackade. Nora Roberts did a great job with these books, I love how each character seems to be a reincarnation of the ghosts from the past. I thought this was the best so far (I haven't read the fall of shane yet though). I like Rafe and regan together and I think Jared and Savannah's story was okay (although I don't really like Savannah's character all that much) but how can you not love Cassie and Devin!! These books are must reads!!

...and I loved it the 1st time! I was just browsing thru the book (I read it a month ago) in order to refresh my memory before I wrote this review. I ended up rereading the book. Nora is the best. I can't wait to refresh myself with the other brothers' stories. However, this story will be hard to beat. It may be my favorite. Series (3 of 4)

It is hard to choose a top 5 for Nora Roberts, but this would absolutely be in it for me. First, Ms. Roberts does a great job setting this story up by having the characters appear in previous books in the series (in fact, you are in love with all four MacKades by the end of book 1!). By the time this book comes out, you can't wait to read Cassie and Devin's story. This book is touching, surprising, sexy and funny, all at once. You will not want to put it down! In fact, I would love to see follow-up stories on all the MacKade husbands & brides. They are just as fun to read about after they are married as they are before!

This is the 3rd story about the brother, Rafe is first and then Jared, and then Devin. All very good reads...

Third of the four MacKade books, and the most emotionally intense.

Roberts creates her usual likeable characters in a strong small town setting, with plenty of romance and humor, all lightly flavored with Civil War history and a couple of ghosts.

This is the romance that we've been waiting for, as the hero's long unrequited love for the heroine has been known from the first story. It is also a testimony to the author's skill in creating characters that we are invested in, because both back stories are ones I don't personally care for: the character that has spent years quietly suffering and yearning fills me with impatience, and I lose all sympathy for the abused wife once children are involved. Yet, Roberts had me caring and caring deeply for both.

The scenes with the kids were my favorites.

You'll enjoy the book (and the tears you shed) and look forward to the next.

What's better than a reformed, but still passionate bad boy? Four of them. This is the third in the four book series about the Mackade brothers, and it's great. The characters are well drawn, and I always get a kick out of seeing the characters I enjoyed so much before carrying on as happily married couples. In this book the believable past histories of these two characters makes their budding relationship even richer, since it also contains the story of a woman finding confidence in herself, and a family healing and moving on. It's a thoroughly satisfying romance.

HEART OF DEVIN MACKADE is part of the Mackade Brothers series and focuses on Devin, the local sheriff of a small town. This has typical romantic episodes of a guy who's been in love with one woman for years and has watched the woman of his dreams marry another and live in Hell for the years she's married. After she divorces and her husband is sent to prison, Devin decides that Cassie should learn how a man who loves her beyond reason should treat a woman.

HEART OF DEVIN MACKADE shows how love is sometimes not enough especially when abuse and heartache exist in the recent past of the person. It takes a patient, understanding man willing to put his own desires on hold to finally win her love and trust.

This conventional romance delves into a deeper issue. Nora Roberts shows that a sensitive, caring man can still be macho and won't be ridiculed by society. HEART OF DEVIN MACKADE has an average plot that Roberts turns into a fairy-tale romance! When you turn that last page and finish reading, a sigh will escape and a "that's nice" will be uttered. Definitely not intense reading but perfect for some down time spent relaxing!
