4.0 out of 5 stars Cold Day's, Warm Nights, Mostly Autumn...
I will be brief, I discovered this band a couple of months ago and haven't stoped raving about them since. My favorite type of music is the blending of prog and classical elements with a folk core. If you like the Floydian style of the past, mixed with beautiful female vocals (Heather Findlay as always,) not to mention co-leader Bryan Josh's great guitar and vocals, you...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ummmmm - Forgettable actually
The first reviewer docked one point for the lack of Angela's Tullish Flute. I have docked an extra star. It was with the release of "Passengers" that I gained interest in this band and immediately purchased their earlier Celtic influenced albums. Wow! I wasnt expecting that. I really enjoyed those as well. Songs like "Shenanigans" really pumped me up with its mix of...

I will be brief, I discovered this band a couple of months ago and haven't stoped raving about them since. My favorite type of music is the blending of prog and classical elements with a folk core. If you like the Floydian style of the past, mixed with beautiful female vocals (Heather Findlay as always,) not to mention co-leader Bryan Josh's great guitar and vocals, you know what to expect. However, the main reason I dock this one a star is that there seems to be less and less of Angela Gordon, who is the woodwind player of the group. To me, she gave alot of their eariler material a very distinct English folk sound, and adds that Jethro Tull element. I can only hear her on one track here. The rest is more and more being replaced by guest fiddlers. That is the only complaint to an otherwise fine cd.

Songs like "Shenanigans" really pumped me up with its mix of fiddles etc combining a Rock element. I was never interested in other Celtic Pop/Rock music like Steelye Span etc, but this, sounded good. We were also offered the likes of the beautiful vocal talents of Heather Findlay with epic songs like "The Last Climb" , "Hollow" and "Evergreen" and monumental guitar solos in the likes of "Heroes never die" etc. With Passengers, there was a noticeable shift in their musical direction and the advertising in Rock Magazines even had Rick Wright (Pink Floyd Keyboard Player) singing their praises "I've just heard this great new band". Heart full of Sky is a step backwards. There are no songs that grabbed me the way any of their previous albums did. I honestly can't see this album being in my Stereo for a while. I tried to get into it, but could'nt.

I have every CD that this group has made, and this is by far their best effort! Every song is unique; they play heavy and at times mellow out; I like the variety. I also like the variety of instruments used, and the vocals sound great!
