Book Description

5 Star Reviews for Heart of Glass...
"Wow - ok I have to say - from the first few pages I was HOOKED - stayed up half the night reading this book & finished it at work the next day!" ~ L Marino.

"I purchased the book because it was set in the years I was growing up, so it really hit home. The characters were extremely well developed, to the point that I felt as if I knew each one. It is very true to life, and in parts very heart wrenching.... At times I wanted to reach out and hold the characters' hand, or sit and cry with her.... A truly GREAT read, and a wonderful book." ~ Jewel

"If this came to life in a movie it would be AMAZING."

"I didn't know if I wanted to stab him to death with my stiletto or take him outside for a quickie."
The year is 1987. U2 is the most popular band in the world and Bella Stone ~ career girl and self confessed flirt ~ has just come face to face with the long lost love of her life.
Back in 1979, when 15 year old Bella was just an uncool girl in the cool crowd, she'd been as stunned as everyone when she became the girlfriend to hot footballer, Ben James. And though the two were as opposite as a couple could be, Ben and Bella seemed destined to be together.
It was just that life always found a way of keeping them apart.
But all that was years ago and since Ben went away, Bella's been struggling to forget that he existed. With the help of her friends she's got her life on track only to find herself facing the biggest challenge of all...Ben's return. And by some nasty twist of fate, he's sharing a flat with her best friend, Justin.
From the moment Bella lays eyes on Ben, it's clear the chemistry between them is a strong as ever. Memories of what they shared, what he did and how she loved him come flooding back, once again threatening to derail the life this fragile girl is trying to create for herself.
It's clear to everyone that Ben wants her.The question is, does Bella want him or has she really grown up and moved on?
Was their love really meant to be? Or has God decided to exact punishment for her sins?

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down April 25, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Wow - ok I have to say - from the first few pages I was HOOKED - stayed up half the night reading this book & finished it at work the next day - thank goodness for kindle for iphone app haha!

I LOVED how the story took you back to the start of the love story & kept it going right up until present - day, rather than jumping back & forth - the middle did get a bit muddled, I have to say, the "heroine" started getting on my nerves a bit during the college years but I still rate this 5 stars since I couldn't put it down. There are a few shake-ups near the end but I love love loved it! Definitely recommend!

3.0 out of 5 stars Loved her, but not him... October 1, 2011
By Shelley
Format:Kindle Edition
This book made me kind of sad, as I identified a little too much with Bella, the main female character. I just had a really hard time liking the male character, Ben. He seemed like a superficial *** to me. I had a hard time believing he was worth pining over for years. I felt like Bella deserved someone better! I did really like her and I understood how she ended up in the bad situations she did. She was a survivor and I respected her. I wish she had better taste in men, but I guess that's why I identified with her. :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Remember that feeling... March 16, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I took an instant liking to this book because of the immortal line:

"I didn't know if I wanted to stab him to death with my stiletto or take him outside for a quickie."

How many of us girls have felt like that about a boy?

Its a universal theme: what if one day, we came face to face with an ex lover? In this story we see what might happen if we did. I love books that ask the question 'what if' and this one takes me back into my own youth, back to the 70s and 80s, those fondly remembered decades, which weren't so easy at the time.

Great writing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Thank god it was only .99 May 16, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Terrible story, exasperating characters, and making date rape seem romantic? Thank god it was only .99 and not more. Don't know where all the 4 and 5 star reviews came from--this book was terrible! Heroine is whiney, hero is a jerk in every sence, and I couldn't even finish the book. Yawn.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable, Boring, Tragically Bad Love Story! August 5, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I got this book thinking that it would be a nice read! Unfortunately NO! In the first couple of pages it was set in a bar with the main character Bella grown up sitting with a friend waiting for this friend's new roommate to come & hangout with them. It turns out that the roommate is none other then her high school sweetheart whom she is still deeply in love with. Then from the bar it goes to when their love affair first started back in highschool, great I love reading about highschool romances NOT. This book was so boring I was skimming through pages after awhile. Bella the heroine goes from trying to be a mature rational adult, back to a petulant, whiny, obssessive little twit! I got sick of Bella and her crap very quickly! The way she talks about Ben the hero is well completely unfounded especially in the beginning as he really did not deserve it sleeping with her stacked, pretty, bestfriend just because Bella wouldn't give it up even though she was an utter tease. So she took Ben back and everything was great they were so in love which you is unbelievable, when I was in high school I thought I was in love with pretty much every Boyfriend I had for like a month and then I got over it like a normal person that was just puppy love. So blah blah turns out Bella's skanky bestfriend is now pregnant & doesn't know who the daddy may be. Bella decides that she has to let Ben go so he can do the right thing good, great whatever the story line is lame and Bella is pathetic on so many levels! You just want to slap her and say get a hold of yourself girl! Let it go, move on if it was meant to be it will work out! But NO! God forbid instead she cries herself to sleep, gets drunk, starts doing drugs, & looks for affection from men just so she can numb out and forget all about her highschool love. Give me a freaking break! I have not read any other books by this author, but after this one I am put off! This was truly bad so bad I couldn't finish it and I always finish the books I read!

I am not certain why it is described by many as a "chick lit" book. It is a very compelling, powerful and painful book about a woman's obsession that leads her into destructive behavior that threatens her life. I did not read the reviews as carefully as I should to understand that this is not a light read. This book was hard to put down but this is not a light read. I would recommend this book as I found it very engrossing but I would just note that if you are looking for an easy, fun summer read this is not the book. But if you want a book that is well written, with many unexpected turns and a main character that is hard to predict and at times to like, than do read this book. It is worth it.

2.0 out of 5 stars surprised April 11, 2011
By Cynthia
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read Perhaps...Perhaps and really enjoyed it so I assumed I'd really like this book too. Its starts out pretty interesting and I admit to being hooked after the first few pages. However, as the story progresses, you begin to see how obsessive the heroine is. She's stuck on the boy from her past and it's to her determent. I don't like the way she develops into a selfish woman who uses those around her to forget the past. She seems to go from one extreme (wholesome and sweet) and to another (tempestuous and self destructive.) And just when you think that maybe she has matured and the story is going to get its happy ending, you're hit with this unexpected curve ball that completely takes away from the love story that has finally come to fruition. I hated the ending! It destroyed it all for me... her reactions and sorry to say, but his too. To me it just wasn't realistic of Ben to react as he did. Under the circumstances, I expected something a bit more. I also disliked that the story went where it did. Maybe I'm just naive...hoping that it would all be wrapped up with a neat bow, but I really didn't expect the storyline to take the turn that it did.

As I said, I loved other stories written by the author but sadly to say, I feel like I wasted the time it took for me to read this book.

More About the Author

Lindy began writing at University but never really wanted to be 'an author'. She wanted to be a Princess or at worst a Kindergarten teacher. Her first novel, Heart of Glass, was penned in 2007 and since then she become known for writing funny, forthright romantic fiction with a cast of crazy, comic characters. She gains most of her inspiration from her dreams, listening to music and watching ridiculous amounts of TV.

In 2012, Lindy was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and, never one to let a chance escape, she used the hospital visits to write Storm in a B Cup, which features the fictional character Sophie, whose medical experiences mirror the author's own journey. Sophie however, ends up with her hot plastic surgeon. Lindy is still very much married to her gorgeous husband of twenty-six years. Storm in a B Cup went on to reach #1 in Medical Fiction, #1 in Breast Cancer Fiction, #1 in Genre Fiction on Amazon US and #4 on iBooks AU.

Lindy is also well-known for her short, romantic novellas which have repeatedly topped the short stories charts in the US and UK. She is currently working on expanding the Bastard Tales series and has plans for another series to begin in 2015 .
