Book Description

5 Star Reviews for Heart of Glass...
"Wow - ok I have to say - from the first few pages I was HOOKED - stayed up half the night reading this book & finished it at work the next day!" ~ L Marino.
"I purchased the book because it was set in the years I was growing up, so it really hit home. The characters were extremely well developed, to the point that I felt as if I knew each one. It is very true to life, and in parts very heart wrenching.... At times I wanted to reach out and hold the characters' hand, or sit and cry with her.... A truly GREAT read, and a wonderful book." ~ Jewel
"If this came to life in a movie it would be AMAZING."
"I didn't know if I wanted to stab him to death with my stiletto or take him outside for a quickie."
The year is 1987. U2 is the most popular band in the world and Bella Stone ~ career girl and self confessed flirt ~ has just come face to face with the long lost love of her life.
Back in 1979, when 15 year old Bella was just an uncool girl in the cool crowd, she'd been as stunned as everyone when she became the girlfriend to hot footballer, Ben James. And though the two were as opposite as a couple could be, Ben and Bella seemed destined to be together.
It was just that life always found a way of keeping them apart.
But all that was years ago and since Ben went away, Bella's been struggling to forget that he existed.  With the help of her friends she's got her life on track only to find herself facing the biggest challenge of all...Ben's return. And by some nasty twist of fate, he's sharing a flat with her best friend, Justin.
From the moment Bella lays eyes on Ben, it's clear the chemistry between them is a strong as ever. Memories of what they shared, what he did and how she loved him come flooding back, once again threatening to derail the life this fragile girl is trying to create for herself.
It's clear to everyone that Ben wants her.The question is does Bella want him or has she really grown up and moved on?
Was their love really meant to be?  Or has God decided to exact punishment for her sins?

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down April 25, 2011

Wow - ok I have to say - from the first few pages I was HOOKED - stayed up half the night reading this book & finished it at work the next day - thank goodness for kindle for iphone app haha!

I LOVED how the story took you back to the start of the love story & kept it going right up until present - day, rather than jumping back & forth - the middle did get a bit muddled, I have to say, the "heroine" started getting on my nerves a bit during the college years but I still rate this 5 stars since I couldn't put it down. There are a few shake-ups near the end but I love love loved it! Definitely recommend!

I am not certain why it is described by many as a "chick lit" book. It is a very compelling, powerful and painful book about a woman's obsession that leads her into destructive behavior that threatens her life. I did not read the reviews as carefully as I should to understand that this is not a light read. This book was hard to put down but this is not a light read. I would recommend this book as I found it very engrossing but I would just note that if you are looking for an easy, fun summer read this is not the book. But if you want a book that is well written, with many unexpected turns and a main character that is hard to predict and at times to like, than do read this book. It is worth it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Loved her, but not him... October 1, 2011
By Shelley
Format:Kindle Edition
This book made me kind of sad, as I identified a little too much with Bella, the main female character. I just had a really hard time liking the male character, Ben. He seemed like a superficial *** to me. I had a hard time believing he was worth pining over for years. I felt like Bella deserved someone better! I did really like her and I understood how she ended up in the bad situations she did. She was a survivor and I respected her. I wish she had better taste in men, but I guess that's why I identified with her. :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend June 30, 2011

This story goes through the life and love of Annebella. Through meeting her true love in highschool with a real life reaction to all the complications that arise. I purchased the book because it was set back in the years I was growing up, so it really hit home. The characters were extremely well developed, to the point that I felt as if I knew each one. It is very true to life, and in parts very heart wrenching. You watch the character grow up, take responsibility for her life and accept herself for who she is. It was a gripping tale that I could not put down for long, although I tried for a few moments here and there when the story became all too real. At times I wanted to reach out and hold the characters hand, or sit and cry with her. Bella's strength with the support of friends and family pulled her through even in the most devastating parts of her life. A truly GREAT read, and a wonderful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down! Loved it. April 3, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Great story! I couldn't put it down and stayed up all night reading it, because I wanted to find out what happens with Ben and Bella. It's the second chance story where you meet again the love of your life. Most of the book flashbacks to how they met and the ups and downs of their relationships and where it went wrong, as well as how Bella handles it. Definitely worth the dollar I spent on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remember that feeling... March 16, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I took an instant liking to this book because of the immortal line:

"I didn't know if I wanted to stab him to death with my stiletto or take him outside for a quickie."

How many of us girls have felt like that about a boy?

Its a universal theme: what if one day, we came face to face with an ex lover? In this story we see what might happen if we did. I love books that ask the question 'what if' and this one takes me back into my own youth, back to the 70s and 80s, those fondly remembered decades, which weren't so easy at the time.

Great writing.

More About the Author

Lindy has lived on an acreage in country Western Australia for the past two years, after moving from the big city of Perth. She shares this laid back lifestyle with her long suffering and handsome husband, Big G, her two dogs and a flock of sheep named after the Brady Bunch characters. She also has two fabulously talented children who are pursuing their own creative careers and will one day be famous!
Lindy began writing at University but never really wanted to be 'an author'. She wanted to be a Princess or at worst a Kindergarten teacher. Her first novel, Heart of Glass was penned in 2007 and since then she has developed her voice as a Chick Lit and Women's Fiction author. Her greatest achievement to date is having a Top Five Bestseller on the Short Stories List with Amazon early in 2013. Filled with hilarious and sweet moments the novella, A Cupid Kind of Day, is a good representation of Lindy's humorous writing style.
On a good day ~ when not at her day job teaching literacy ~ you can find Lindy lurking around Twitter and Facebook. She's a hopeless U2 and Bon Jovi fan, a rugby union fanatic, coffee and champagne lover, chocoholic, over-exaggerator, trashy TV, music and iPhone addict. If you can't Google it then it's not worth knowing!
