Heart of Glass ushered in the 80's style of music (lots of bass, tight drums, and electronic keyboards) and dress (remember those thin knit ties?). It's one of those songs I do not tire of listening to.

As best I remember, this was the first big hit for Blondie. They took a lot of heat for 'Heart of Glass', since they were considered a New Wave/Punk band, and the song was definitely disco. Accused of being sell-outs, but the song remains a classic. It was my last year of high school, and the age of disco was in its twilight. Blondie had the good sense to strike while the iron was still hot, and came away with one of the best Number 1 hits of 1979, reaching the top of the charts in 8 different countries.
