They should give you this book in hospital,
By Stan from CA (Pleasanton, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Heart to Heart: A Guide to the Psychological Aspects of Heart Disease (Paperback)
Open heart surgery has enormous psychological implications which are ignored by the medical profession. This book addresses all those needs. Although the book tends to focus on the "heart attack" patient, it is useful and adaptable to anyone who has undergone open heart surgery. It also addresses the emotional needs of the spouse and the family. This book should be given to patients soon after surgery.

A Place to Start,
This review is from: Heart to Heart: A Guide to the Psychological Aspects of Heart Disease (Paperback)
This is a place to start in getting it back together after Bypass Surgery. It should be on a list (though doctors don't have one) of reading either before or after surgery. Unfortunately the emphasis is on the male patient with only a brief mention of women in the role of caregiver. There are many of us women out here who have had bypass and need support as well too. We will write our own books on the subject but the male doctors MUST read them too. Worth the time to read.
