5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect compliment to The Kissing Hand
I love this cookie cutter! I begin my year in Kindergarten using the book, The Kissing Hand. After we go on a "Chester Chase", we come back to the classroom and find these cookies waiting for us. The students just love them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Heart in "mitt"
I purchased 4 cutters and of the four people using the cutter only one could get the hands to come out as pictured. Once we get the right dough, it will make a great cookie.

4.0 out of 5 stars It Works Fine With the Following Hints, April 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: R & M Heart in Hand Cookie Cutter (Kitchen)
Hints:
1) Roll the dough out to no more than 1/4 inch thick so that the metal lines that hold the heart in place do not leave an imprint across the cookie dough.
2) Bake at a lower temperature than is called for in the recipe (about 50 degrees at least) and bake for a lesser amount of time than the recipe calls for or check the baking cookies frequently. The fingers have a tendency to turn browner faster than the rest of the hand.
3) Space the cut out cookie dough well because it has a tendency to spread when baked.
4) Dip the cutter in flour each time you cut a cookie. The dough sticks easily to the metal.
4) I felt that the cookies looked better with the heart placed back in the center of the hand and baked that way. It left the imprint of a heart instead of a stamped out heart, but that is my opinion. Try both ways and see what you like.
5) Wash and dry well by hand to prevent rust. The dishwasher will discolor the metal.
6) It is a cute cutter but requires some practice (and the hints) to come out with a nice looking cookie that is as cute as the cutter. Good Luck! I hope this helps you.
P.S. I used this cutter for Cub Scouts, as a treat after teaching boys about proper hand-shaking techniques (firm shake, eye-contact, and smile). I also used it in my first grade class as a treat after a American Red Cross service project called "All You Need Is a Heart and a Hand."

5.0 out of 5 stars Kissing Hand, September 26, 2011

This cookie cutter is adorable. We have 3 children in our school district battling cancer right now and with a little planning we can hopefully make cookies with this and raise money to help their families. Our church has a saying that we recently put on tshirts that says "God's work - our hands". What a wonderful way to help out our community families.

This cookie cutter was perfect for The Kissing Hand book...Kids loved it. It was a little hard to get the dough out of the cutter but that could have been me...I am not the ultimate baker! They were adorable...

I bought this cookie cutter to go with a book for my grandchildren, The Kissing Hand. They loved it. They not only make cookies with it but use it for cutting bread to make Kissing Hand Sandwiches.

5.0 out of 5 stars this was a real life saver, December 20, 2010

This review is from: R & M Heart in Hand Cookie Cutter (Kitchen)
I had a heart in hand cookie cutter and lost it in a move. I always make heart in hand cookies when I make a heart in hand quilt for a sick friend with all of the persons' friends writing something on the heart and I then applique it on the hand and then applique them all over the quilt. This one had 38 heart in hands of different colors appliqued on a beautiful Martha Stewart blue fabric and then a beautiful border. I called cake decorating shops and quilt shops when KEEPSAKE Quilts in NH suggested Amazon.com. actually, she looked it up for me and found that you indeed had just what I was looking for. You saved the day. I had 3 days to make all the cookies for the luncheon (Martha Stewart's sugar cookie recipe) What a sucess! This is the first time I have ever ordered from you and I am impressed. Thanks

The cutter is about 2/3 the size of my normal sized hand. Its exactly what I expected and the quality seems good.
