Where to begin with a review of this delightful book? Like the protagonist of this book, I live in the middle of nowhere, and animals are my closest companions. Yes, there are human neighbors, but... This book chronicles the life of a young girl with a difficult childhood (that's an understatement) growing into a woman whose life is graced by the love of animals. Her trials and tribulations are many, but there is always a four-footed (or two-footed and two-winged or finned) friend to soften the hardships. Luanne sounds like a marvelous woman, which should surprise no one who knows Peggy. I think Peggy embodies the best of Luanne's traits.

This is a book that should be read and read again... I especially recommend it for parents to share with children, so they can see the joy and comfort that our animal companions can bring. I'd also recommend it for adults who appreciate the power of the human/animal bond. Oh heck, I'd recommend it for anyone who has a heart.

Thank you, Peggy, for sharing this beautiful story.

Get to know Luanne, her husband Henry and the assortment of quirky animals that work together to build a house in rural Vermont and in the end find their forever home. Luanne knows a lot about heartache, loneliness and what it means to keep on going. Her story is bittersweet, often funny, amazing and true. Before the end of the book your faith in happy-ever-after will be restored.

Told in present day and in flashback, the author uses a deft hand when it comes to sharing Luanne's painful beginnings and just the right mixture of adjectives and inspiration. Luanne is the author's mother and the story is will make you cry and leave a smile on your face. If you love animals, are seeking a dose of motivation, and a good read this one will not disappoint.

This book is about Peggy's mom, Luanne who loves all animals... dogs, cats, lambs, chickens, goats. You name it, Luanne loves them all! Each of them help her to overcome hardship and struggle while trying to live a simple life in rural Vermont... which turns out to not always be so simple. Luanne and her husband are building their dream log home and it turns to to be more work than they realized. But the animals help Luanne through and they always keep everything in perspective for her dream of living a simple life.
My heart melted reading about Luanne's many special connections to all the different animals. I also found myself holding my breath when one of the animals was ill or in trouble. Luanne truly love animals and Peggy captured the heart of her Mom and her love for her animals. I didn't want the book to end and when it did I found myself wishing I could have a cup of tea with Luanne and Peggy and talk about animals all day long!
If you are looking for a book to lift your heart, I highly recommend Heart to Heart, Hand in Paw.

Here is the true story of a woman who has had more than her fair share of misfortune, but somehow managed to overcome every obstacle with an indefatigable faith and spirit. The glimpses into her childhood left me wondering just how strong must this person be? She obviously did a great job of raising her daughter to become a terrific writer. This book will make you want to meet and talk with Luanne to learn how she is doing today. Reading this book may help give you courage in overcoming the challenges in your own life.

HEART TO HEART, HAND IN PAW is warm and wonderful. Peggy Frezon is a natural storyteller. I was sold from the beginning.

In this book, Peggy shares the life journey of her own mother, Luanne. The main storyline follows Luanne's Vermont homesteading adventure, but Peggy artfully weaves strands from Luanne's childhood, too. The result is lovely. This is a story of struggle and strife softened by God's gift of dear animals. Furry and feathered friends comfort Luanne, teach her, help her to persevere, and ultimately extend His healing grace and love.

This book is written with beautiful detail. You won't want to miss it!

I really enjoyed Heart to Heart, Hand in Paw. Reading the story of "roughing it" in Vermont and living in other than ideal conditions is amazing. The fact that the animals played such a huge role in the adventure is wonderful. I found each chapter to be very entertaining and interesting. It is sometimes easy to forget how much animals mean to use and our lives until we read a story such as this. It would make a wonderful book for anyone, including older children, who have an interest in animals. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in a fun and interesting story. Peggy really brings the stories to life.
