Heart of Innocence - Best collection of women's songs ever!, December 25, 2005
This review is from: Heart of Innocence (Audio CD)
This collection, subtitled "A collection of songs by women for everybody everywhere" is truly that. 10 artists, 13 songs, and a flow that is as perfect as possible. Donna DeLory starts and ends the CD; her opening track {In the Sun" is actually a song by the acclaimed Joseph Arthur which she transforms to a prayer of incrdible hope. Pollyanna Bush, who contributes the only previously unreleased song, sings "Innocent Heart" which recently won West Coast songwriter's contest, and inspired this collection. The incomparable Tina Malia and Suzanne Sterling follow, and then the first of two tracks from Lisbeth Scott, the voice of State of grace and alo {The Passion of Christ". Wow! As if that wasn't enough, Happy Rhodes provides the next track, she of the heavenly 5-octave range, and then Bliss (from the UK) who have two tracks here. Miriam Stockley (from Adiemus), Maniko, Suzee Waters Benjamin finsih out the artist list, and each song excels on all levels of voice, production, lyrical content (all soings are in English). producer Lloyd Barde deserves every award possible for this, including extensive liner notes and pictures, and I sure hope that a volume two is in the works. Artwork by Daniel Merriam is the coup de grace for this appealing CD that every fan of Sarah McLachlan, Indigo Girls and Jewel will adore. Play it over and over and it will never disappoint, not a single song!
