5.0 out of 5 stars A TRUE MASTER
When I was a little kid, I tried to learn how to play the piano. I really wanted to learn, so I started taking lessons. Like just about all kids, I HATED IT! When I was a little older, I started teaching myself to play the guitar. I never took lessons, but just taught myself. About 4 years ago, I heard Jim Brickman for the first time. I was BLOWN AWAY! I never new that...

2.0 out of 5 stars Unimpressive
I bought this CD after having listened to samples of the cuts on Amazon.com and because it was reviewed so highly. Perhaps I expected too much, but it just seemed ordinary to me. There was no originality there at all. If I could get my money back, I would.

5.0 out of 5 stars A TRUE MASTER, March 15, 2000
This review is from: By Heart: Piano Solos (Audio CD)
When I was a little kid, I tried to learn how to play the piano. I really wanted to learn, so I started taking lessons. Like just about all kids, I HATED IT! When I was a little older, I started teaching myself to play the guitar. I never took lessons, but just taught myself. About 4 years ago, I heard Jim Brickman for the first time. I was BLOWN AWAY! I never new that the piano could be so beautiful. He inspired me so much, I started teaching myself how to play, and now I am starting my new album. What an inspiration. All of his Albums are incredible. I have shown this CD to alot of my friends, and no matter what kind of music they like, just about all of them really enjoy it. I could recommend it to anyone, no matter what their taste in music is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Melodies, May 10, 2003
This review is from: By Heart: Piano Solos (Audio CD)
This CD has the depth to keep you refreshed and feeling romantic each time you listen to it. Following the quick-capturing first track, "Angel Eyes," Jim Brickman goes on making each track a beautiful melody to surround you with comfortable and intimate feelings.

My own favorite pieces in this CD include "Looking Back" which is in a calm retrospective sentiment, "If you believe" which I found uplifting, and "All I ever wanted" which is very soothing. The sixth track, "Little Star" is actually another version of the children song "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," which Jim Brickman has made it so serenading.

The title track, "By Heart," which Jim Brickman put it the last, is special with the female vocal, Laura Creamer, that is very energetic in delivering emotions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant background for reflective thought, intimate times, September 4, 2002
This review is from: By Heart: Piano Solos (Audio CD)
This is a good and likeable album. I've used it for contemplative thought and it works out quite well although the vocal as the last track does bring one back out of one's revery.

I don't find any one of the 10 solo piano tracks outstanding in either a good or a bad way. They don't bear deep, concentrated listening. But they are good for lying back and letting your mind go where it will. And they're equally good for intimate conversation.

Brickman fans should enjoy it and will probably appreciate the fact that most tracks are the Brickman piano only, other than mild string accompaniment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy two...you'll end up giving it away, January 12, 2002
This review is from: By Heart: Piano Solos (Audio CD)
This is my all-time favorite CD and I own over 200! It's very relaxing but it's also very romantic. Men, in particular, even those who "don't like piano music" LOVE this CD. I've given it away at least 10 times so I always buy two now. You won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fine, meditative piano, September 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: By Heart: Piano Solos (Audio CD)
This is my first Brickman CD after hearing Angel Eyes on the radio. What a pleasant surprise! This is fine, meditative piano music to play while reading a good book and sipping a cup of tea. The final vocal track is like a song in an Ally McBeal episode.

This is a wonderful C.D. I have been a "Brickhead" for 4 years now and have all his C.D.'s and have seen him in concert twice. His music makes me laugh, sometimes makes me cry. I am fighting a cronic illness and Jim is ALL I listen to.....he really helps to releave the pain that I have....All his C.D.'s are great. I highly recommend his music to anyone of any age....you'll love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, November 20, 2000
This review is from: By Heart: Piano Solos (Audio CD)
This CD is wonderful from beginning to end. It is slow and easy, but not somber, just peaceful. The CD is almost all instrumental, with the last song being the only track with vocals. Some of the tracks have light accompaniment, but the CD really focuses on his piano only.

Enjoy!

I loved every minute of this CD and play it daily after work. I enjoy the CD so much that I am looking for the book of songs (if available)so I can learn them myself. If anyone knows if this exists, please contact me.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic!, April 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: By Heart: Piano Solos (Audio CD)
I don't know if I can call this album a classic yet, but I've had this album for about 3 years now and I'm still enjoying it! I own about 1,000 CDs and I STILL cannot put this album in the "background shelf"! If you're reading this and planning on purchasing a Jim Brickman album, THIS album is it. It's better than any of his albums (I have all of them).
