5.0 out of 5 stars Kiri Proves she can "crossover", August 8, 2004
By
This review is from: Heart to Heart (Audio CD)
In "Heart to Heart" Kiri definitely proves that she can sing almost anything she chooses to. My personal favorite on this
one is probably "He Was Beautiful." I have had a very hard time
obtaining copies of this CD due to it being out of print. My
mother's friends all want copies since all the songs are basically love songs. Some say Malcolm was a poor choice for a
duet partner, however without him the lovely title song would never have been written or sung. That would have been a real loss because it tends to be a favorite. He wrote it for Kiri
as a part of their work together. So, I think if he had any weaknesses he made up for them by writing that song. It's a shame it isn't a choice people can listen to on this site. Actually, after writing this I went back and listened to the selections. They are all scrambled, so that the 1st one is Heart to Heart which isn't even on the possible list of songs to preview!! Overall, a lovely CD of beautiful and familiar songs sung very
well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Cross-over, August 27, 2001

"puccinigirl" (Shawnee, Oklahoma United States) - See all my reviews

Granted, this is not the best example of pop-style music. However, if you appreciate terrific singing and can't stand the yelling that pop is overwhelmed with, but still like the standard pop music, this is a great album. Kiri, while not the best interpreter, does a fine job with the music. She manages to cut out the operatic sound and deliver a decent pop sound, while still maitaining an integrity in her singing. The music is somewhat dated by now, but who cares? Definitely one to add to the Kiri collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Romantic 'popular' songs by Kiri, particularly for women, April 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Heart to Heart (Audio CD)
Kiri's voice is so remarkable she can even sing 'country' (Pieces of April). Her timing and expression of a David Foster song (The Best of Me) would compete with Celine Dion anytime. The only weakness in the album (and it is considerable) is with her collaborator, Malcolm McNeill. However popular he may be 'at home', his voice is so overshadowed by hers that it is difficult to listen to them together. Fortunately, she does many 'solo', so the album is still great, especially if a 'remote' is handy. Unfortunately, it seems to be difficult, if not impossible, to obtain this CD now, so Kiri as a 'pop' singer will likely leave that stage to Celine or Barbra. I loved it though, so covet my rare copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Kiri's ordinary fare!, June 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Heart to Heart (Audio CD)
Kiri's singing of this popular-style music is, of course, lovely. The songs are spirited, full of energy as Kiri sings some solo and some with Malcolm, and are fun to listen to. His solo songs are perhaps a little less exciting, but still very good. Definitely glad I made this purchase!
