Originally released in 1989, Heart Like A Sky was the final studio album from the British New Romantic band who had achieved great success in the early to mid '80s, but essentially self-destructed by the time Heart Like A Sky was released. While the album didn't contain any bona-fide hit singles, it contains many gems for the Spandau enthusiast including the singles 'Be Free With Your Love' and 'Raw. Sony/BMG.

This CD was never available in the states. In 1989 I remember I had to go to some off the wall record store that dealt with imports in SF called Butch Wax Records.

The salesman ordered it for me took about 3 weeks to get it from England and cost me $35.00. A lot of money back then.

But when you are a Spandau Ballet fan, its worth it. A great album to a already great career.

Though they only had 3 Top 40 Hits "True" No.4, "Gold" No.29, and "Only When You Leave" No.34 with the other minor success of "Communication" No. 51 - this band etched their way into the 1980s as one of the best love crooning rock bands of a life time.

"Heart Like A Sky" finishes it with greatness. Though their previous album "Through the Barricades" was rushed due to record companies pressuring them, and it showed - "Heart Like A Sky" brings back the Spandau Ballet we always knew and loved"

To the heart pumping "Raw" to their first single which was a great remix song as well "Be Free With Your Love" to the songs that show off Tony Hadleys wonderful vocals with the ballads "Empty Spaces" and "Windy Town" this CD is for the Spandau Ballet lover.

Great album, all the songs are strong, and Gary Kemp shows off his true writing talents.

A great way for this band to end their fantastic career.

Other album recommendations of theirs 1984s "Parade", 1983s "True" and their first effort "Journey To Glory".

I picked up this CD in the Philippines, had I not seen it there, I never would have known it existed. True was always my favorite CD, I was a little dissapointed in Parade, and Through The Barricades had some GREAT songs (including the awesome title track), but overall it was uneven. Now Heart Like Sky is the best CD they have made SINCE True. The songwriting here is fabulous!!! My favorites are A Matter Of Time, Empty Spaces, and Windy Town! Be Free With Your Love, and Crashed into Love are also good up tempo tunes. Tony Hadley does great justice to these songs Gary Kemp wrote. This was my favorite CD for two years after I found it. If your a fan of Spandau Ballet and never found this, get it now! Pick it up on Ebay or from your favorite import store. You wont regret it!

I can't believe this record was never released in the States.....sad....as HLS has some of the best songs SB ever! Windy Town, Big Feeling, Be Free w/ Your Love, Crashed into Love,A Handful of Dust....all have the huge choruses that Gary Kemp is known for.....not a bad song on here...all very catchy, more mature and patient songs.....my fave of their catalog.....find the cd on ebay, or get the tour dvd 'Spandau Ballet Live'....essential for the SB fan!!!!!
