Rick Heil's "A Heart Like Yours",
By
This review is from: Heart Like Yours (Audio CD)
Since the original Sonicflood band split up eight years ago and non-original member Rick Heil has carried on with the band name since that time, I won't even attempt to call "A Heart Like Yours" a Sonicflood album. Like the previous Sonicflood studio album "This Generation", "A Heart Like Yours" is a Rick Heil solo effort with backup from studio musicians. Unlike that previous album, it's probably the strongest effort to bear the name Sonicflood since the original band disintegrated in 2000.
Musically and lyrically, "A Heart Like Yours" has a sound that sometimes recalls that of popular worship leaders like Chris Tomlin. There is definitely some heartfelt stuff heard in this music and there isn't one weak track here. Among the highlights are the driving opening track "Look To Love", "In Your Presence", "Psalm 91", the piano-dominated title track, "Circles" and the closing track "Back Home" that has a slight nod to the recent piano-oriented sound of bands like The Fray or One Republic. Rick Heil has definitely issued a solid effort here and is probably his best to be released under the Sonicflood name. This is definitely music that is a strong encouragement to those who are facing tough times as well as those who just want to have time alone with God. Very positive and very uplifting. Definitely a strong solo effort from Rick Heil.

An Instant Classic,
By
This review is from: Heart Like Yours (Audio CD)
I just got my copy of this cD and It is an instant classic. This could be one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Prepare to have your heart opened and your life changed when you listen to the genius that is Sonicflood. This group changed my life and I am forever grateful to them. (I accepted Jesus Christ at a concert of theirs on October 1, 2006).
