"DON'T STOP GIVING LOVE.",
This review is from: Heart in Motion: Amy Grant (Audio CD)
Amy is so terrific, and I haven't listened to pop in a long time. She has a lovely, soft, airy voice but uses it powerfully and the music makes her sound even better. What great musicians she has with her, and you can feel their connection in the music. HEART IN MOTION is titled appropriately because Amy has tons of heart and she boldly and bravely shares it. I respect that in an artist. I also would like to thank her for taking the time to come to my high school (this was awhile back, heh) and speaking to us about many inspirational things, including God and singing acapella to us sitting on a stool; dressed casually, relaxed, with her legs crossed singing from her heart. What mainly made me write this review today is the song, "Baby, Baby" which is EXACTLY how I feel about my daughter on Valentine's Day and every day into forever: Baby I realize there's just no getting over you/ Other favorite songs are: the upbeat, "Good For Me," and the gorgeous melody, "That's What Love is For" both of which I dedicate to my devoted husband; faith in trying times, "Ask Me;" the emotional, inspiring, "You're Not Alone;" and the sincere, riveting "I Will Remember You;" and, in my opinion, the rationale for the entire cd and why I love Amy so much, "Hope Set High." "Here's to good times to come." I'm with you, Amy. Soar!

Amy's Best Release (Ever).,
By Josh Andrews (El Paso, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Heart in Motion: Amy Grant (Audio CD)
When I was barely getting into music, Amy Grant was probably the first singer that I heard. I remember back in the early 90s, falling in love with "Baby Baby" and "Good For Me". For Amy's 1991 release, she exploded onto the Billboard charts, scoring 5 Top Twenty songs - "Baby Baby", "Every Heartbeat", "That's What Love Is For", "Good For Me", and "I Will Remember You". I believe it was around 1992 or 1993 when I had first seen and heart Amy Grant. I loved tuning into VH1 to see her music videos, and I would even stay up for hours just to see all of them played on an old VH1 show called "A to Z." My absolute favorite song on Heart In Motion is "Baby Baby" - I bet pretty much everyone has heard this song. It's still on today after 10 years. For a Christian singer, Amy Grant sure did hit the mainstream with her irresistible songs. Even though they were pop songs, she still showed she was a true Christian with the songs "Ask Me" and "Hope Set High".Although she may have been on the Pop side for a few more albums, she was able to show that she could crossover music genres and become a major hit. Heart In Motion is a great collection of songs. With its upbeat rhythms, its positive messages, and its ballads, it's a winner.

This is the first album I ever purchased from Amy Grant. I have to say that the first time I heard it back in 1991, I loved it right away. Every song is put together very well. I read from one of the previous reviews that someone didn't like the song, Galileo but Galileo actually is a very, very good song. Baby Baby, Every Heartbeat, I Will Remember You and Good For Me are only some of the reknown songs on the album. I think the strongest song on the album is You're Not Alone, which is a rock ballad and has actually comforted me in my times of loneliness. I would highly recommend this album.

"True love is frozen in time...",

Heart in Motion by Amy Grant is the best album of the early '90s. Grant was one of my childhood favorites, these pop songs are well-crafted and catchy to the bone. Standout tracks include: Good For Me, Every Heartbeat, That's What Love Is For, Ask Me, You're Not Alone, I Will Remember You, and How Can We See That For. This was the first album where Grant stepped away from her Christian roots, a lot of her so-called fans were upset but these songs are not offensive so what was the big deal? I highly recommend this feel-good pop gem!

Excellent pop fluff that has lasted well!,

tHIS 1991 album by GOSPEL singer Amy Grant is incredible. The track "Baby Baby" was a well-deserved hit despite it's incredibly sacharrine style and "You're Not Alone" is pure rocking energy. This is a highly recommended CD!

This is Amy's best album. The songs are fast and catchy (expect for the last two). If you're an Amy Grant fan, you CANNOT pass this album up. It's THE best. I'd give up her later album, House Of Love, and Life, Love, & Other Mysteries (P.O.G.) for Heart In Motion.

Why I never got a copy of this when it was originally released in 1991 I don't know (probably getting used to the abyss known as high school, but that's beside the point).I listened to "Heart In Motion" in its entirety for the first time today and I'm sorry it's taken me so long to do so. For the most part, it's worry-free pop, but there are serious tunes to be had here (as the star review points out). My absolute favorite is "Baby Baby." The melody is catchy and memorable and the lyrics are adorable (and it's nice how they could apply to a love for your child and/or your boyfriend/husband). Amy's voice is soothing and is the main reason why I never tired of hearing "Baby Baby" and "Every Heartbeat" constantly on the radio in '91 and '92. Truth be told, I don't care for Amy's Christian material, but "Heart In Motion," her first foray into pop music, was quite an effort and I do appreciate her musical talent. It's a pleasure to have added this to my collection. - Donna Di Giacomo

A Kid's Review

I'm not really under 13, but I'm using my dad's account to review this. Anyways, Amy Grant really had a lot to do to make another album as good as Unguarded and Lead Me On, but she did it! This was probably one of my first favorite cd's ever (I've loved it for 10 years already) Here are the track listingsGood For Me-10/10-I love this song, it's got a great rock feel, and is just fun to sing along too! Baby, Baby-10/10-Now who could listen to this song and not smile? Every Heartbeat-10/10-One of my personal faves, it sounds a lot like Madonna's song "Cherish", but has a different feel to it. That's What Love is For-10/10-Beautiful Ballad Ask Me-10/10-My favorite song on the entire cd. It's very haunting and is about a girl who has to overcome sexual abuse. It almost made me cry the first time I heard it. Galileo-10/10-I love this song too, great metaphor! You're Not Alone-10/10-Amy shows her rock side here, and it's true, she can rock! Hats-10/10-This song was kinda weird at first, but the more I listened to it the more I liked it. The beat kinda reminds me of "Love Shack", but maybe that's just me. I Will Remember You-10/10-This song as another sad song, but it's beautiful. A perfect way to say goodbye to a loved one. How Can We See That Far-10/10-Another beautiful ballad Hopes Set High-10/10-In this song, Amy stays true to her Christian music roots and sings "If there's anything good that happens to life it's from Jesus". So true Amy so true.

Possibly Amy's best work. All christian artist today who have thier singles playing on secular radio stations owe a lot to Amy Grant, the first superstar of the chirstian/pop music crossover. This album has been one of my favorites since i was 6. I grew up in the late 80's and early 90's listening to all of Amy's albums but when when this one came out I had a favorite. Tracks like "Good For Me", "Baby Baby" and "Every Heartbeat" are a joy to listen to, as well as all of the other songs. In particular the song " ASK ME" really helped out somebody in my family who had been abused. This album showed people it is ok for a christian artist to sing about relationships and things other than Jesus Christ. Even in 1985 "Find a Way" was a groundbreaker. That single became the first by a christian artist to get into the top 40 PC. One thing I like about this album is the last song.....it just says that everything she just sang about was secondary to Jesus...."When it all comes down.....if there is anything good that happens in life it's from Jesus". Amy will always be the queen of CCM....if it was not for her who knows CCM might not even be a genre.

"Good For Me": a high-energy pop/rock track that could've been more successful than "Baby Baby" if it had been the first single off the album"Baby Baby": a simple, contemporary pop song that is nice to listen to anytime "Every Heartbeat": another high-energy pop track that shows undying love between a man and a woman "That's What Love Is For": a beautiful ballad that again exemplifies West Coast pop/rock "Ask Me": a moving, poignant song about a girl who blossoms from a sexually abused girl into a beautiful woman, while questioning the presence of God in the process "Galileo": a fun song to listen to regardless of your mood or feeling "You're Not Alone": one of the first tracks on this album to show Amy's Christian values "Hats": a song that reminds everybody just how much a mother does in her family's life "I Will Remember You": an amazingly powerful ballad that really doesn't seem like a ballad after listening to it for a while "How Can We See That Far": I personally think that this is one of the weak songs on the album, could've fit better on LEAD ME ON "Hope Set High": a song that doesn't fit in the album as a whole, but a good religious anthem Overall: HEART IN MOTION is terribly underrated as not just a mainstream pop album, but a Christian pop album as well. |
