Jerram Barrs is the founder and Resident Scholar of the Francis Schaeffer Institute at Covenant Theological Seminary. He also teaches apologetics and outreach, among other subjects, as Professor of Christianity and Contemporary Culture at Covenant. He and his wife were on staff at English L'Abri for many years.

Mr Barrs is outstanding in person and in writing. There is always something more to pray about and consider in our lives. No hoops to jump thru and honest communion with God are reflected in this book. I'm buying copies to give them as gifts.

The good thing about Barrs book on prayer, is that it doesn't leave you feeling guilty about your poor prayerlife. Barr is honest and doesn't give the reader a 'new law' how you should pray. Barrs book is very stimulating. Quite a relief.

I was not surprised by the author's fundamental Calvanistic perspective. I think his warnings regarding Eastern Mysticism warrant heeding, but was dissappointed the suggestion of contemplative prayer is outside biblical boundaries and author's approach is akin to throwing the baby out with the bath water.
