The best track on this CD is "Snap Your Fingers" and the best version of the Kim Carnes' song "Make No Mistake She's Mine". I love how Ronnie trys to tune his voice to Kenny Rogers and sings in a softer tone then suddenly busts out full voice. Just a great combination of singers, they should sing more! Ronnie does not get the radio play he deserves. This CD more than proves what a magnificent talent he is and belongs in any music lover's collection!

I needed one song for my dance class and couldn't find it anywhere. Thank goodness I found it at Amazon.
It arrived SUPER FAST and I was able to use it a week sooner at class than I had expected...

It's a good thing I got it for Christmas recently; the LP vinyl is warped! The album has always included four hits. They are Snap Your Fingers, Where Do The Nights Go, Make No Mistake, She's Mine(a duet with Kenny Rogers that won a Grammy) and Button Off My Shirt(the only non-#1, which remains exclusive to this and his Greatest Hits Volume Three). All of their flipsides by Ronnie Milsap are also included(except If You Don't Want Me To, the flipside of Where Do The Nights Go, and eventually, Houston Solution(again, not on here); If You Don't Want Me To was on the album Milsap Magic). The Truth Is, I've Been Known To Lie definitely can't be country! Snap Your Fingers was a hit that was revived and became a hit all over again! It, along with Where Do The Nights Go and Earthquake, is on youtube. Oh, and Old Folks is on my cd, so I don't see why it is not on somebody else's cd. All in all, satisfying!

That Ronnie Milsap is nothing short of a legend has been proven almost every album/cd for which he was responsible. As a Rock and Roll musician for more than 3/4 of my life, naturally, I was drawn to his "let kick out some jams" material like "Stranger In My House." Just like the first time I heard it, to this very day, I will drive my car off the road if it comes on the radio. But "Heart And Soul" will always have a very special place in - well, MY 'heart and soul.' I remember well having dinner with a friend who, obviously, wasn't of the 'demographic subgroup' that would even acknowledge Ronnie Milsap's very existence. She and I were well into our third bottle of Reunite (AND *), trading stories about loves lost, etc, and, playing like a good liberal, I mentioned that David Porter's sublime album, "Into A Real Thing" had helped me thru a recent divorce. Alma said, "Yeah? Well, let me play YOU somethin' that's greased a few skids of my own!" - and she played "Button Of Of My Shirt" off "Heart And Soul." I was literally transfixed. She and I must have played "Button" more than fifty times, going "Wow, I can't believe that is Ronnie Milsap." Of course, I rushed out the next day, purchased the CD, and not only was I literally blessed with "Button," but a quick cursory perusal of the liner notes showed that the musicans thereon were as much rock (well..."pop") as country, to wit, half of Toto. And it was also very pleasing to see that Don Potter & Mark Casstevens, the two guitarist responsible for the early Judds' sound were present. This cd is rife with country, pop, shmaltz-y love songs - but the absolute #1 BUY THIS CD NOW! track is track #4, "Truth Is I've Been Known To Lie." Folks, this ain't country, its a white boi singin' da bluz, and - MAN - I do believe Elmore was sitting up in his grave while "Truth" was being recorded, saying, "Yeah, YOU got it, Man." Trust me on this one, folks. Ronnie Milsap is a force to contend with.

A Strong Set of Prime "MILSAP MAGIC" from 1987!,

Ronnie Milsap's Heart and Soul album finds the great singer/pianist in top form as he puts his masterful touch on a set of ten tunes that includes three number one singles. This 1987 album is another fine effort that spotlights the musical diversity that became a Milsap trademark during the 80's.
"Make no mistake, she's mine" is a great pop duet with Kenny Rogers that topped the charts and won a grammy. "Snap your Fingers" is another number one hit with a touch of R&B flavor that pops up in much of Ronnie's music. Chet Atkins lays down some sweet and gentle guitar work on Ronnie's smooth and mellow single "Where do the nights go" that also topped the country charts. "The Truth is, I've been known to Lie" is a gritty blues masterpiece that finds Milsap belting the lyrics with a powerhouse set of pipes that rivals the vocal power of blues masters like Freddie King, Elmore James, or Buddy Guy! This great song is one of Milsap's very best tunes that was never released as a single. He also delves into some funky rock with the high-energy "Earthquake" that is another highlight. Ronnie even attempts some pure 80's soft rock with the ballad "Somebody like you", while "This time last year" is nothing but pure country! If this wasn't enough musical diversity for one album, the romantic ballad "One Night" is a doo-wop flavored tune that Ronnie delivers with sultry soulfulness. Milsap's hit singles mostly displayed the country-pop style that he is known for, but Heart and Soul is one of several albums that reveals the incredibly versatile singing talent that places this highly underrated singer in the same class with America's greatest vocalists. This is prime Milsap at his best and most diverse. Highly recommended to lovers of soulful singing.

I paid $25.00 for this CD. There was one song that I really wanted. The CD has many scratches and of course the largest and deepest scratch is right through the song I wanted most. I am very disappointed. I have reordered and hope for the best.
