Product Description

This is a biography of the life and loves of Rolling Stone front-man Mick Jagger, whose desire to do things his way, both in his personal life and as lead singer of the rock super group, have consistently made him headline news for the past 30 years. The book includes coverage of: the Jagger mythology, revealing the rock superstar who had no burning desire for the music but just wanted to be rich, and how he used rock as a means to that end; new material on the women - the glamour and the suicide attempts - the drugs and the run-ins with the law, on the Stones' internal rivalries and power struggles; and first-hand interviews with those who know him, including B.B. King, Noel Redding, Sir William Rees-Mogg, Malcolm McLaren, Robert Stigwood, Michael Lindsay-Hogg, Gary Glitter, Allen Ginsberg, Amanda Lear, Eileen Atkins, Werner Herzog, Ginger Baker and Ray Davies. Laura Jackson is the author of "Golden Stone: The Untold Life and Mysterious Death of Brian Jones", "Queen & I: The Brian May Story" and "Mercury: The King of Queen".

4.0 out of 5 stars HE'S So Cold!, July 24, 2000
By A Customer
As a long-time Stones fanatic, I try to read everything, both good and bad, that is published about them. This book has lots of information that's been printed in every tabloid in the past twenty years (I'm including People magazine in that category). However, read under one cover, the picture that's painted of Mr. Jagger really gives one pause: he emerges as cold, opportunistic, and tighter than a tic when it comes to meeting his financial responsibilites to his many children. His daughter Karis, by the dancer and actress Marsha Hunt, suffers the most. It was a wonder that she not only had him at her recent wedding, but actually treated him like a father and had him escort her down the aisle. He denied his paternity for years, and when the proof proved otherwise, paid a minimal amount for her support and did so under great protest.More importantly, he refused to be a part of her life for many years. The impact of this sad but interesting book is significant;after reading it, I still love his music, but I don't think much of him as a person.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Quick Read with Focus on Jagger and Women, January 10, 2008
This book is a quick read and focuses on Rolling Stones legend Mick Jaggers' relationship with women. It is not a flattering account, painting him as a self-centered philanderer. But hey, it's Mick Jagger, and we already knew that.

The book reads like a PEOPLE magazine article--fluffy but interesting. A lack of references and footnotes prevents any chance of it being considered a scholarly work. Still, if you are interested in Mick Jagger or the Stones, it's worth the 98 cents it costs to buy it used on Amazon.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware, November 5, 2000
By A Customer
Readers, please beware of reviews like the one from the "Reader from Danville." How much of this book can be substantiated by reliable trustworthy sources? Probably not much... Reader from Danville, although it is true that Mick Jagger is not the posterboy for family values, you should not succumb so easily to sensationalism of this sort. Please try to read other sources and get a well-informed view before you make such harsh judgments.
