5.0 out of 5 stars The Reprise!
I completely agree with A. Sloan's review. I first heard this album back in the 90s while going through my roomates vinyl records and decided to play it and instantly fell in love with the Heartstrings Reprise. This track alone is worth the price of admission. Now available on cd, I'm definitely going to purchase this one. Listening to the Reprise reminds me of the...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Remastering Claim Is A Sham!
THIS IS certifiably the best of the first decade EARL KLUGH canon (Best Of compilations not included). The unforgettable cuts remain ACCOUSTIC LADY and PRETTY WORLD (with that joyous orchestral strings-swept bridge)- by themselves already worth the admission price. When I bought this six years ago, I subsequently taken too the earlier work FINGERTRIPS. I sold it after two...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Reprise!, July 1, 2005

I completely agree with A. Sloan's review. I first heard this album back in the 90s while going through my roomates vinyl records and decided to play it and instantly fell in love with the Heartstrings Reprise. This track alone is worth the price of admission. Now available on cd, I'm definitely going to purchase this one. Listening to the Reprise reminds me of the era when I found the vinyl album, when friends who are deceased now were around and life in my 20s was so footloose and fancy free. 10 years later hearing this track for the first time since then flooded my mind and heart with tremendous happy memories. Only now I'll really appreciate this masterpiece and will finally listen to the REST of it. Peace!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mellow, warm & romantic..., September 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Heart String (Audio CD)
This is to me quite possibly one of the most ROMANTIC jazz guitar CDs ever made !! I have had it on LP for over 15 years and the CD version sounds fantastic !! Mr. Klugh's warmth and talent really shines here... it's perfect for those "special times" with a loved one, or if you just want to chill after a hard day at work...

Earl Klugh has made many good albums, but for me Heart String has such a warm, intimate feeling to it... every song touches your heart in a different way. It will always be my favorite !!

Anyone wishing for an escape from all the noise and negativity of this era might want to check out this "old school" mellow jazz classic... you won't be disappointed !!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Title for the Perfect CD, June 28, 2005
By
This review is from: Heart String (Audio CD)
I started playing guitar in the early 70's when I was in Junior High. When I started working at a record store 6 years later I finally learned what playing guitar really meant when I began listening to Earl Klugh. Heart String is a masterpiece. This album was my favorite and was best listened to staring out at the full moon on a crystal clear night on the beach with the one you love. (Especially Acoustic Lady I and Heart String Reprise) Earl Klugh is what excellence is all about. The mix of strings and orchestration with the ballads is magical and haunting and the percussion mix on the faster paced songs is reminiscent of the islands on Acoustic Lady II. I had never heard such a mix of styles before that time and see that it was considered jazz. His other CD's like "Late Night Guitar", Love Songs and Ballads are simply wonderful too, (I especially LOVE Christina on the Ballads CD!) but "Heart Strings" will always be special to me. It's like your first love, that holds a special place in your heart that you never forget and it changes everything for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the great Guitar albums!, July 12, 2004

I brought this album in 1979 as an LP and played it till I wore it out. This is one recording that is so soothing and romantic. I love the title track, and "Pretty World". Klugh's work with Bob James would further excel his greatness. But it's this album that defines his skill! Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Heart String Is The Cornerstone Of Earl Klugh's Work, June 7, 2001
This review is from: Heart String (Audio CD)
All of the elements of perfection come together on this recording. The listener is unable to do anything but listen while Earl with his melodic strumming draws your attention away from your conscience state to a near mesmerizing level. Heart String is such a masterpiece that Klugh (perhaps with the exception of Crazy For You)to date, has not compiled an album where the listener wants to hear the album in its entireity, leaving no song out. If you own Heart String, you have the "best of Earl Klugh."

I have worn out the tape version and was SO glad to find out that it's on CD. This is a wonderful collection of songs. It's cool and breezy -- perfect for that nice summer drive. If you are into acoustic guitar wizardry, Earl Klugh always delivers. You will not be disappointed with this choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Earl Klugh's Best!!!, December 26, 2005
This review is from: Heart String (Audio CD)
I love this CD!!! The title track and Pretty World are my two favorites on this one. This CD really typifies what Klugh is all about. Most of his music is soft ballads, but he also likes latin beats and can jam with the best of them. Thanks Earl for making so much great music over the years, but I do believe this one is your best!

This review is from: Heart String (Audio CD)
This is for those who like kick-backed, easy listening, smooth jazz with a little blues thrown in here and there. If I could only play the guitar like this! Klugh is a Classic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Earl Klugh delivers as usual, September 8, 2000
By
Allen Davis (Greensboro, NC USA) - See all my reviews

What else is new? Earl Klugh has been one of my favorite smooth jazz artist since I was a kid. While growing up in Charlotte and all of my friends were into Rap, Earl's smooth style rescued me. It gave me music of substance and also gave me a real appreciation for talented musicians. This was one of the first jazz albums I ever owned and I don't regret it!! Now that it's on CD, I highly recommend anyone to purchase it. It will take you away from everything and make you feel like you're the only person in the world. Excellent for relaxing!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Monster Classic, May 8, 2000

This review is from: Heart String (Audio CD)
I own nearly all of Earl Klugh cd's and haven't found a bad one yet. Heart String is is another great piece of work by the smoothest guitarist to ever play. Buy it, play it and you'll like it. Enough said.
