Amazing read,

The writing is really solid; the emotions realistic and honest. It was good to read how triad's are not so unusual and older people with open minds can accept them because they can see the genuine love and affection as well as fun that crosses between the three people involved. Can't wait to move onto the next ones in this series as well as explore some of the other offerings of the writer. If reality intruding on your romance is a problem, then switch to fantasy. Humans are flawed and how they complete one another to heal is a huge part of what makes a romance realistic.

so not for me,

I did not enjoy this erotic romance. I awarded a 2nd star simply for the author's courage in making her hero an amputee from the Gulf wars. The theme of how he regains his dominance (with his nurse as his sub) sounded interesting but the writing just didn't grab me. The references to blood and shrapnel got to be too much. I persisted, feeling smug that at least I was reading socially conscious smut. Then the author threw in a menage a quatre and I started feeling like I was reading bad porno. From now on, I'm keeping my smut and my socially conscious reading separate.
