Product Description

A fact that too few physicians, much less women and patients, realize is that the number one killer of women is heart disease. Over 500,000 women die each year in the United States alone from heart disease. That is six times as many as from breast cancer and twice as many deaths as all cancer deaths in women combined. Furthermore, the symptoms of heart attack differ in women from those in men and are far too often misdiagnosed by health care personnel including physicians. Too often women die needlessly because they do not seek help when a heart problem exists, or because time is lost while diagnosis is sought by process of elimination rather than by recognition of the symptoms. Furthermore, most of the heart problems that that too often end in death or permanent damage, could be avoided, cured or controlled with proper simple lifestyle change or treatment. It is the purpose of this book to raise the awareness of this women’s epidemic among women, physicians, nurses and all health care workers.

Understand the different parts of the heart, the muscle, the valves, the electrical system and the circulatory system of the heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heart of a Woman is thought-provoking, educational and eye-opening, June 23, 2011
This review is from: Heart of a Woman - the prevention and cure of the #1 killer of women (Boomer Health Book Series) (Kindle Edition)
Heart of a Woman is a great tool for women and the men who care about them to use to understand the anatomy of the heart, the symptoms and effects of heart disease and how to prevent them. It is written by a professional who not only knows the facts, but knows how to present it in a lay-persons terms. It is well-organized and very educational.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book may have saved my mother's life!, June 30, 2011
This review is from: Heart of a Woman - the prevention and cure of the #1 killer of women (Boomer Health Book Series) (Kindle Edition)
I can't say enough about this book. My mom has been having pain in the middle of her upper back for months, activated by activity. She'd called her doctor who ordered anti-inflammatory pills for her. She started to develop shortness of breath and I mentioned it to a close friend who lent me this book. When I read the symptoms of heart disease in women differed from men, and read that pain often showed in their backs and included shortness of breath I insisted she see her physician. Three days later she had a stint placed in her heart vessels. Today she is pain free, on medications and has her energy back. I truly think this book may have saved her life and heartily recommend this book to anyone approaching menopause as after menopause heart disease actually kills more women than men.

More About the Author

I do not have a literary background, though I did a year of graduate study at the University of Missouri School of Journalism, my real background is medical. I graduated from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in 1964 and practiced for 44 years, first as a General Practitioner, and the last 30 as an E.R. doc. I began writing as an avocation to help me unwind after a long day in the E.R. My writing went in two directions, one Historical Fiction, and the other Medical Self-Help, my forte translating medical information into easily understood lay language. In recent years that Self-Help has been more in the direction of Baby Boomer and senior health and emotional problems.
My Historical Novels deal mainly with Judaical, Holocaust, and Biblical History. Most of my books are both in print and on Amazon Kindle. Please enjoy! With over 40 books published by 10 different publishers I've been named Colorado's most prolific author. Google Othniel Seiden
