Book Description

July 1987
To research this biography, the author interviewed family, friends, and country music industry cohorts of her famous father, Willie Nelson. He had spent so much time performing away from home while she was growing up that she resented rather than appreciated his talent. Writing this book helped her understand why her dad is so adored by millions of fans. The study is as much about her own hard luck as it is about Willie's rise to fame, however, and neither story line is handled very well. The hard feelings are gone now, but it is telling that her laid-back father contributed little more than a supportive "Go for it." For diehard fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Willie Fan, September 14, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Heart Worn Memories: A Daughter's Personal Biography of Willie Nelson (Hardcover)
What a superb read how refreshing it is to see a star through the eyes of his own daughter. I am now currently reading this book for a third time and I have only had it for a week. It's a must for all Willie Nelson fans. Well done Susie its brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars PLEASURE TO READ AND A MUST READ!, June 9, 2006
This review is from: Heart Worn Memories: A Daughter's Personal Biography of Willie Nelson (Hardcover)
I will say but a few words. READ THIS BOOK.
Susie speaks of her dad with love and honesty in "down home" language. I felt like we were having coffee and talking on the porch for a few days. This book is EXCELLENT and I can't believe it took me this long to realize this was "out there".
Willie should be very proud of his daughter's efforts...I do wonder where she is today/how she is/etc. I hope life has been good for Susie. It is RARE to find a book written by a famous person's child that isn't full of negative...negative. SUSIE is positive, understanding and a loving daughter. Amen!
