5.0 out of 5 stars Classic, best post Cash Money Album
B.G.'s Heart of Da Streetz is a modern classic. B.G. is at his best on this 17 track album. Heart of Da Streetz was released by Chopper City Records/Koch Records this past May. 3.0 out of 5 stars 3-1/2 stars -- Perfect for the streets
B.G.'s latest album The Heart of Tha Streetz (is it really necessary for him to be holding a human heart on the album cover, though?) is a lot better than his last album, Life After Cash Money. On here he stopped repeating the same things, like his name at the beginning of all the songs and also talking about, well, his life after Cash Money.

Also this time...

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic, best post Cash Money Album, June 10, 2005
This review is from: The Heart of tha Streetz, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
B.G.'s Heart of Da Streetz is a modern classic. B.G. is at his best on this 17 track album. Heart of Da Streetz was released by Chopper City Records/Koch Records this past May. B.G. had many hits and participated in many hit songs while he was affiliated with Cash Money Records. His biggest hit at Cash Money, "Bling-Bling," changed the vocabulary of millions.

Bottom line, this album is a classic. Although no longer with Cash Money, production wise, it still has that flavah that a lot of the early Cash Money records had. It's right up there with Juvenile's 400 Degreez. The first single, "Where Da At," has a hypnotic track. The album version is slightly different than the one currently on radio, both songs are hot but I prefer the album version.

B.G. is very personal and reflective on this album. He shares with his listeners that he has left drugs alone because it was hindering his talent. He also still has animosity about his situation at Cash Money. On the banging song "U See Why," he laments about how he feels frustrated at times but through faith God tells him he is going to give him everything he gave Cash Money and more. B.G. also expresses that his love for his son helps to keep him out of trouble. "U See Why," is a real chill song you can ride to.

Another stand out song on the album is "Do That S%&#." "Fool With It" is another banger. B.G. stuck with family on this album and worked with his Chopper City artists. His little brother Hakizzle is a guest artist on the song "Oh No."

Lyric wise this album is hot. Production wise this album is hot.

5.0 out of 5 stars BG iz The Heart of Tha Streetz, June 29, 2005
This review is from: The Heart of tha Streetz, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
This album is a classic without a doubt. I'm giving it 5 Starz b/c it's his best album yet. Although all of his albums are good, but this one is harder. Where Da At is just a monster banger. The whole CD is raw, but that's my banger for right now. Now alot of people thought he couldn't do it without Cash Money Records. For all yall that thought it wasn't possible....this is his 3rd drop since he left cash money, and his 2nd drop in 10 months. The production is on this album is RAW, I mean who needs a Mannie Fresh beat when the production is this good. Leaving Cash Money was BG's best move. BG doing it big w/o Baby in his pockets. Buy the album, you will not be disappointed. (BG - The Heart of Tha Streetz = 5 STARZ)

4.0 out of 5 stars Can you feel that heartbeat?, September 5, 2007
This review is from: The Heart of tha Streetz, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
What makes this album better than the album came before it? He doesnt sound bored, the production is a lot better and he is not dissing Cash Money on here(SURPRISE!). The album starts off with the dope Heart Of The Streetz where BG rips it in half. He is equally impressive on Fool Wit It, Chopper City and Do That S***. The first single Where Da At with Homebwoi wasnt bad. It was BG, what more can I say. The Chopper City Boyz show up on the best track they ever made on Same Ol S***. Same Ol S*** is a street anthem that was never promoted at all. BG gets deep on the reflective U See Why. The tracks that could have been left off: Work That A** is dumb as hell and so is Get Up, Stalkin, hands down, is the worst track on here and Get Ya Game Up is also skip material.
Bottom Line: BG's Heart Of Tha Streetz Vol.1 is BG's best work and is definetely a highlight album of 2005. Instead of wasting time dissing Cash Money, BG concentrated on making a good album and this was the end results. 100x better than Life After Cash Money. Standout Tracks: HEART OF THA STREETZ, FOOL WIT IT, CHOPPER CITY, WHERE DA AT, SAME OL S***, DO THAT S***, U SEE WHY, ROLL WITH ME and ON THA BLOCK.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3-1/2 stars -- Perfect for the streets, August 29, 2005
This review is from: The Heart of tha Streetz, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)

Also this time around there are no really famous guest stars; instead, B.G. enlisted more members of his own Chopper City Family crew. And although most of them have rather stupid names (Gar, Ziggler the Wiggler, 5th Ward Weeble), they still help produce standouts like "Where Da (they) At" and the title track. And "U See Why" is aptly-titled, as it's a deep perspective of why B.G. talks about things like guns and thuggin'. (It's not 2Pac "Me Against the World" deep, but it'll do.) B.G. is also impressive on his own, as evidenced by "Do That Ish".

There are a few times when his crew slips up, though. 5th Ward Weeble kicks a lame chorus and verse on the otherwise good "Work Dat A**", and Ziggler the Wiggler's skit is really uninteresting. But I think the corresponding song, "Stalkin'", is overrated, especially with the chorus: "I f'ed you, you f'ed me/But please let me be, quit callin' me". Another lame chorus can be found in "Get Up"; and the final track, "On Tha Block", is really only average.

The Heart of Tha Streetz is still an above-average album, so if you want something to ride to, pick it up.

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst B.G album ever, December 3, 2005
By
Viper (Chicago IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Heart of tha Streetz, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
I'm not hating on Gizzle, I think he's one of the best rappers from the south. However this CD fails misreably on every level. It's just not the same as his previous albums. There are a couple decent tracks and some good production and that saves it from being worse but it's still not a good album. B.G has shown that he can make a good album without Cash Money as prooven by Livin Legend and Life After Cash Money but maybe he should consider going back if he's going to put out trash like this. I hear he might be signing to G-Unit soon and I hope this is true so he can make a better album and get more recognition. Sorry Gizzle but this just didn't work for me. If you want a good B.G album get Chopper City In The Ghetto. Hell get any of his previous albums, but don't get this.

This is B.G.'s best album since leaving Cash Money hands down. The production value and beats are some of the best out there. Tracks like Roll With Me (track 15) blow Young Bucks and 50 Cents beats out of the water! Pick this album up!!
