A laugh riot and quite a tip of the hat to the very best of the JRPG genre. I even love the fake "bad english translation" ... it is HILARIOUS!

JRPGs are my favorite genre of adventure game. This does not disappoint. I have already played this game to death these last few months. Truly, truly fun and clever!

Maybe I am lucky but it runs stable for me on multiple devices. Issues may be Kindle-specific? I am not sure but I run it fine on a Tegra2 tablet, a Bionic and a Nexus 7 developer edition.

Absolutely 5 stars. Wonderfully fun game you just have to play to fully appreciate. Words don't do it justice.

Speaking of words, the game does contain some language and some use of alcohol and some sexual innuendos and such, whereas I would probably rate it at about PG-13. Just a heads up-- you probably don't want small children playing this without you at least looking at it yourself first and deciding if it's OK for them to play. This game is definitely aimed at adults with a bent sense of humor (like me, haha!)

And best of all? NO adware. NO spyware. NO analytics. NO IAP. Just a great, great game. Oh and the music scoring and soundtrack is superb!

BONUSES: Make sure to explore the advanced options because you can change the lighting effects and performance of the game to better suit the device.

ALSO (and this is great) I remembered that I have a wired XBOX 360 controller so I grabbed it and plugged it in to my Tegra 2 tablet (A Toshiba Thrive running ICS) with a USB port. The controller fired right up, the game recognized it instantly and it works PERFECTLY with the controller! So now I am playing it on my big screen TV through HDMI with an XBOX 360 controller-- it is awesome!

Update 1/25/2014, This game is good for fans of turn-based RPGs (see my original review below). The controls work on this game, but are unintuitive and don't follow typical touch screen conventions. You can NOT navigate menus or move characters by touching menu items or places on the screen. You must do the following.
_1. Use the left half of the screen as a joystick. To do this, place your finger on the screen and then, while maintaining contact with the screen, move your finger up to move up, OR move your finger down to move down, etc.
_2. Use the right side of the screen as an action button. For example, once you've selected a menu item using the left side of the screen, tap the right side of the screen to activate that menu item.
_3. Open and close menu screens while playing by sliding your finger across the screen horizontally from left to right.
_This is so different from the standard touch screen approach that it is confusing at first. Especially because you navigate the splash screen using techniques 1 & 2 above to start the new game before you get to a tutorial that explains all this. Once you get used to this system it works fine.

This app has some mature content. Beer and alcohol are referenced and available as items. There are references to sex. Nothing totally out of line, but not good for little kids who probably wouldn't get all the references to classic RPGs.

Original Review Written 12/1/2013: Doom & Destiny is a fun parody of a traditional rpg with turn-based fighting. In this game you control a party of four current day gamers who are thrown into a magical fantasy world and sent on quests. This parody makes a lot of amusing references to old rpg games and fantasy rpg tropes--this got me chuckling at times.

Does not fill screen. Overlaps multiple screens. Lacks controls that are effective.

Might be fun on a compatible platform.
Images are extremely small on this 7˝ screen.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wish it would work!! January 31, 2014

This game started out really awesome - funny, good music, pretty entertaining...But after I play for about 5 minutes the music glitches out into a terrible buzzing noise and parts of the screen go dark! When I try to open the last save file, it doesn't help. Neither does starting over or rebooting my phone. I really want to play this game, but I can't give it 5 stars until it works!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very fun game February 22, 2014

This is not your typical RPG. There is a lot of satire throughout. Unique, funny characters. I also enjoyed seeing the similarities between this game and other well-known names, such as the Mario-themed levels. I own this game on Android and Windows 8 and the controls on both are very easy to use and easy to learn. Both versions work wonderfully with no glitches or problems. Awesome game!

4.0 out of 5 stars NOT FOR CHILDREN January 25, 2014

the f bomb is dropped ALOT and there is sexual references dropped often... overall though, it is so ridiculous it is awesome. Esp if you are a gamer in real life.... there have been moments that have made me start giggling because it sounds just like me and my friends when we are gaming together.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, but glitchy. January 25, 2014

A fantastic parody of the JRPG genre, and an excellent game in its own right. Make sure you save often, as the game has a tendency to freeze and crash, and you have the potential to lose a lot of progress.

5.0 out of 5 stars hilarious January 25, 2014

Oh. Absolutely hilarious. Don't let younger kids play, as there are many inappropriate jokes, but for a teen or a young adult this game is great!! There are no ads unless you talk to people with a heart over their head and even then it is just to rate the game. The gameplay is standard of an RPG, but has more jokes. It's almost like an RPG spoof.
