You don't have to hurt no more...,
This review is from: One's Heartache Another's Soulmate (Paperback)
Courtney and Malcolm have been together since childhood. Unbeknownst to Courtney, Malcolm has had an affair with one of her co-workers. Manless, jobless, homeless and penniless, Courtney takes a ride one day and tries to make sense of her life. Her car cuts off at the perfect spot and she is rescued by a man named Adam, her knight in shining armor. Once Courtney finally meets Adam and gives him a chance to help her, she realizes Malcolm really wasn't the man for her. Meeting Adam has been the best thing that has happened to her, and she actually knows now what it means to have a soul mate.
Carmen, Karen, Jeremy and Brandon have no idea how their lives will intertwine when all hell breaks lose. Karen and Carmen have been best friends since childhood. Karen was always the wild, loud one that would hook Carmen up on dates. When Karen gets married to Carmen's soul mate, their relationship ends. Carmen moves 45 minutes away so that Karen and Jeremy can have a chance at happiness. But Carmen doesn't know that Jeremy cannot get her off his mind. Since Jeremy is a lawyer, he sends a new client name Brandon to use Carmen's real estate company for his own selfish reasons to see her again. But Jeremy doesn't realize that by sending Brandon to Carmen, it causes her to find her true soul mate and Jeremy is not the one. I was surprised when I got to the end of the first part of One's Heartache Another's Soulmate that this was a two story book and one part had nothing to do with the other. I was a little disappointed that Janet Tabera left the first story kind of hanging. However, I guess it wasn't much more that needed to be said about it. These two stories were both okay. I understood the concept of how sometimes in relationships, we think that this person is "the one." But it's not until we go through some type of heartache do we realize that they really weren't the one for you. Reviewed by Angie for Urban Reviews

ONE'S HEARTACHE ANOTHER'S SOULMATE by Janet Tabera is the story of four people; Courtney, Stephanie, Adam and Malcolm. Courtney caught her man in bed with another woman, lost her job, she is depressed and driving aimlessly, when she runs out of gas. The only house nearby is a gated mansion. In desperation, she presses the bell and is admitted by the most amazing man.
Stephanie, a school principal, is married to Jason who does not appreciate her at all. In fact, he is rather brutal to her and insists on everything being his way and when it isn't he beats her. How long will this bright woman put up with him? Malcolm has produced a baby by someone other than his wife. He's always wanted a child and now this woman won't even let him see the baby. He is enraged and ready to sue her for full custody. The woman picks up the child and leaves the city, forcing him to hire a detective to find her. Adam, who suffered tragedy in the 911 disaster, wears a scarf over the lower half of his face, making others wonder about him. Otherwise, he is an attractive, well-off man who lives in a mansion with plenty of servants. He has his own company that is prospering, but he is lonely and perhaps a bit depressed. How will these four people match up? Who belongs to whom? Will any of the tension ever go away? Janet Tabera has written a tight, stressful story of those suffering relationship mishaps. Will any of them ever be able to straighten out their lives? This is a tense story with well-developed characters. It is easy to follow their stories and empathize with them. It is well worth reading. Reviewed by Alice Holman of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers

"One's Heartache Another's Soulmate" by beginner Janet Tabera tells the story of people who believe that they've found their soul mates. Imagine how they all must feel when learning that each definition differs.
It was an enjoyable read, despite the editing. However, I especially liked how everyone was willing to put the past behind them and let bygones be bygones and move forward. With some fine tuning, Janet Tabera will be on top of the pile. Also, I'm anticipating a part II based on certain areas. Am I right? Reviewed by: Carmen

Upon reading the synopsis on the back cover, I was lead to believe that the book contains one story. Upon reading I found that the book contained 2 stand-alone stories. The first involved main character Courtney who was down in her luck, but crosses paths with a man from her past, albeit mysterious. This was a decent story, but I felt that it lacked something to bring it all full circle. There were also some decisions Courtney made early out that were a bit questionable.
I found the second story to be much more enjoyable. This one had to do with the bonds of friendship and forgiveness. The book as a whole contained quite a few issues with editing such as missing quotations and tense issues. However, the storylines were good and kept me interested. Ms. Tabera is a new author on the scene who I would like to see more of. With finer attention to detail I can see her next book competing with some of the more well known names in the literary industry. Englishruler ARC Book Club Inc. Star Rating: 3.5 Stars
