A good representation of San Francisco house,

San Francisco's Loveslap Recordings has consistently supplied DJ's and dancers with quality soulful house, the kind with vocals and organic instrumentation. With this disc, David Harness leads off "Heartbeat," a new series of DJ mixes from Loveslap. The first half of the mix is heavy on divas, both male and female. Listeners may differ on whether these R&B-influenced vibes are "deep" or closer to elevator music. But as the mix progresses, Harness drops some undeniable winners, such as Scientific Soul's "Pimenta Malagueta," with its funky accordion riffs, and Harness' own slinky "Tribal Stomp." The mixing is smooth and refreshingly human-sounding. With contributions by hometown favorites Franky Boissy and Goapele, this mix is a good representation of San Francisco house flavor.

This is the keeper you play non stop for months on end because it offers the good, true house sounds that get you out of bed and out the door with a smile. It is a sound track for life.
