Book Description

June 15, 1999
Each beat of her heart brings her closer to the truth and closer to him...

When Jenna's husband Paul dies in a car wreck, he leaves his desperately ill wife one last gift: his heart. Now, as Paul's heat beats strong within Jenna, something strange is happening. Paul is leading Jenna back to Texas-- to a twin brother she never knew he had, and a past he kept secret from her.

Mitch Elliot is a mirror image of Paul-- but that can't fully explain the powerful, electrifying feeling Jenna has towards him. Paul's heart is binding her and Mitch in a way that can't be explained-- and leading them both to a truth too dark to face.

Torn by two men: Paul, the husband she never really knew, and Mitch, who is shattering all her illusions and awakening her to love-- Jenna knows she must follow her heart...at whatever the cost.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

A far-fetched but intriguing premise powers the latest paranormal romance from the author of Second Time Around. When heart patient Jenna Elliot's husband, Paul, dies in a car crash, Jenna receives his transplanted heart and, with it, a psychic connection to her late husband. Not only is she drawn to investigate the unusual circumstances surrounding his death, but she feels compelled to travel to a town in Texas, where she discovers Mitch ElliotAthe twin brother Paul never told her aboutAand an old mystery concerning the murder of the twins' parents. This promising situation becomes static, however, as the characters visit and revisit the same emotional conflicts. All the while, Paul's heart conveniently reveals the necessary clues to them, bit by bit. Although fans will enjoy the complex characters and unusual plot, the story quickly loses momentum. (June)

More About the Author

WHERE AM I? I'm now writing under the name Jaime Rush for Avon Books. Check out my new series, where X-Files meets Lost! Why did I change? I changed publishers and went back to my paranormal romance roots, and it was a business decision to start fresh. If you like my earlier paranormal books, you'll like the Offspring series. Lots of suspense, action, the kind of damaged characters I love to write about, and sexiness. You can read sneak peeks at www.jaimerush.com.

If you'd like to buy one of my books, and have it signed, please email me through the Jaime site. My manager has a limited amount of Tina Wainscott books on hand. For ebook users, I am releasing my Tina titles on the Kindle under both Tina Wainscott and Jaime Rush. Out so far:
Unforgivable
What She Doesn't Know
Blindsight (formerly Now You See Me)
Until I Die Again (formerly On the Way to Heaven)

Tina's Bio: I read suspense thrillers because I like to be scared, and I write suspense thrillers because I like to scare people. Not-entrails-on-the-floor or hacked-up-body-parts-wrapped-prettily-in-a-package type books. More like not being able to trust anyone, not even people you think you can trust type books. Books about psychological manipulation and psychotic baddies who enjoy the torment even more than the actual kill. Being scared is fun. Just ask any roller coaster or horror flick fanatic. Heck, just watching the evening news can be terrifying.

Pick up one of my books, though, and I'll guarantee you one thing: in my world, the bad guy always gets his in the end. Or the head. Or wherever it turns out to be. We don't always get the luxury of justice in real life, but every time I write a book, I get justice for all those people who couldn't. And I get to meet interesting people who I then put through hell, all in the name of entertainment. That is what I call a sweet way to make a living.

My beliefs are God, a positive attitude, living life to the fullest, doing unselfish things on a regular basis, small indulgences, believing in yourself, appreciating what you have, and no regrets.

5.0 out of 5 stars In A Heart Beat, April 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: In A Heartbeat (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a very well written book. I loved the people and could feel thier frustrations and joys. This book held my interest from page one, I could not put it down. One of the best books Tina Wainscott has written. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read. I loved this couple and rooted for them. What a concept, to have your husbands heart inside you. The ending was a great surprise, never suspected anything. Tina kept you guessing all the way through the book. The people felt so real to me. Great book, a must read

5.0 out of 5 stars Top notch writing with a plot that never stops twisting., July 19, 1999
This review is from: In A Heartbeat (Mass Market Paperback)
Tina Wainscott's newest novel is a marvelous read. She has taken a current day medical event and given it an imaginative twist that is hard to match.

Jenna Elliott needs a new heart. When her husband Paul dies in a car accident, he wills his heart to Jenna. She receives the transplant, recovers from the surgery and then is filled with the need to visit Texas. She feels Paul's spirit leading her to a place that is unknown to her. The first person she encounters is his twin, Mitch, whom she did not know existed.

Paul had kept his life before Jenna secret. She did not know he had family, nor did she know that he was rich. As each mystery unravels, Mitch must learn to trust Jenna and she must fight to solve the problems that Paul left behind. Paul s spirit tells her that he wants her to find the truth, and she grows in strength with Mitch's help to get at that truth which has tormented both brothers for nine years. Mitch and Jenna develop a deep and powerful love that changes their lives.

Tina Wainscott tells this story extremely well. Her style of writing is top notch, her characters are strong, and the plot is full of excitement. Her novel engenders a new awareness of the struggles a transplant patient must face in his/her everyday life. Her touch of the supernatural is imaginative, and makes one feel that a person's soul is truly in the heart.

This is a not to be missed story. It is filled with suspense, romance, extra sensory perception, and excitement in the discovery of a new life and a new love for Jenna Elliott. Treat yourself to this book, you won't be disappointed.
