Although recordings exist from as early as 1989, the Dance Floor Five phenomenon came into full realization in 1996, conceived as a humble and earnest acoustic guitar and voice project. Following the release of two cassette only albums and some scattered live appearances, Dance Floor Five graduated to CD in 1998, with the first full length 'Heartbreak and Romance in HI-FI'. The early home recordings and 4 track demos were re-visualized for this debut, and set off an evolution in sound from lo-fi indie-folk-pop to sample-based trip-pop to estranged prog-metal-electronica over subsequent efforts.
