4.0 out of 5 stars The missing song....?
OK, first of all after a saw the heartbreakers I wanted the soundtrack mainly for the mystery song where Jake (Jason Lee) and Page (Jennifer Love Hewitt) have just been married and are dancing under the stars. 3.0 out of 5 stars Can't find song on this Soundtrack (responce)
The Name of the songs many are looking for, when both girls are on the boat looking for people to con, is called "Tropicalia" by Beck, and the other one in where they are dancing after they just got married is called "Oh, My Love" by John Lennon, And because this is not a forum let me give my opinion on the cd. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good but missing the best song of the movie, October 21, 2001
This review is from: Heartbreakers (2001 Film) (Audio CD)
I love the mix on this CD, but it is missing the best song in the movie. I know this has already been talked about in some of the the other reviews, so I know that I'm not alone in this view. The song I'm talking about is the one played by Jack to Page on their honeymoon. It is Oh My Love by John Lennon. The only reason I'm writing this review is because I know of at least two versions of this song that are currently being sold. The version I believe to be the one used in the movie is on John Lennon's album titled IMAGINE [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED] released on 4/11/2000. The other version (the one I don't think was used in the movie) is on Lennon's box set and on the album titled Wonsaponatime. The lyrics are the same in both versions, but there are small differences. Maybe these differences won't matter to others, but it did to me. I had to have the Imagine album.

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh My Love - John Lennon, June 29, 2004

I enjoyed Heartbreakers and thought the soundtrack would be awesome... sadly, it did not have one of the best songs played in the movie "Oh my Love" by John Lennon. I noticed some other people mentioned it on here, as well. If you are looking for a place to find it, try Anthology (4 cd box set) CD 1 or Imagine. Once again, the soundtrack was OKAY but they really should have included Lennon!

3.0 out of 5 stars Better in the Movie, November 6, 2001
By A Customer

When I saw the movie, I thought the soundtrack would rock. It is missing a few key songs. The one when they are in the speedboat checking out rich men...that IS a Beck song, I just can't figure out what it's called. Also, the Lennon song. How could you take the best stuff off the soundtrack?
I just sampled the CD online, and won't buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars An unexpectedly strong soundtrack to a hilarious film, May 23, 2003
By

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Heartbreakers (2001 Film) (Audio CD)
Anyone who has seen the hilarious 2001 film "Heartbreakers" already knows what a wonderful, wacky, intriguing soundtrack the film uses throughout. The movie is a melange of styles and influences, and the soundtrack is accordingly a real mish-mash, which is not necessarily a bad thing. The CD begins with the rocky/folky "Only When I Dance," by Becca, and then leaps into Astrud Gilberto's lovely Jobim/de Moraes 1960s standard "Agua de beber." The Brasilian sound continues in the Jobim classics "Quiet Nights (of Quiet Stars)" ["Corcovado"] and "The Waters of March" [Aguas de marco], performed by two departed divas (divae?), Sarah Vaughn and the wonderful, underrated Susannah McCorkle. Both of these ladies capture the wistfulness as well as the playfulness of Jobim's compositions. There is also a tropical feel, although more of a South Seas groove, to Mason Williams' enchanting "Trade Winds." In between these exotic melodies are quiet, folksy songs by Shawn Colvin ("Polaroids"), Inara George ("Infinity"), and Alison Krauss, who does a hauntingly beautiful cover of "Baby, Now That I've Found you." "Wonderfully Strange," performed by Eman, is a more upbeat piece, likely intended to sound more hip and hard-edged. The swinging "The Best is Yet to Come," performed by Michael Andrew and Swingerhead, may seem an inexplicable inclusion on the soundtrack, but the film is so full of surprises and irreverent details, it all works well together. The two long "Heartbreakers" suites which close the soundtrack are more like conventional "movie music," orchestral and shifting, in the manner of a soundtrack by, say, John Williams or Georges Delerue. You can hear the Danny Elfman "Heartbreakers Theme" woven through the pieces, and it ends the CD on a quiet, gentle note. I recommend this CD to fans of the film "Heartbreakers" or to collectors of very eclectic film soundtracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best IS Yet to Come, April 2, 2001

This review is from: Heartbreakers (2001 Film) (Audio CD)
I really like this CD compilation - it's very diverse to today's pop society and very worth getting. From alt pop, Shawn Colvin, Susannah McCorkle to the classic Sarah Vaughn and even Merv Griffin's favorite band, Michael Andrew and Swingerhead performing Sinatra's 'The Best is Yet to Come" which is a great track produced for this movie.. (I wish "Come Fly with Me" was on there, too). This CD was produced by Maureen Crowe, who always seems to be on the current cutting edge of contemporary AND classic tracks - making it worth searching for entire albums by these artists. We all already know Miss Britney and should buy her entire album anyway. And the sountrack maestro, Danny Elfman, has his 'heartbreakers themes' on this disc as well which is a bonus. Cool soundtrack for a funny film.

3.0 out of 5 stars ELFMAN or NEWMAN??!?, March 3, 2002
This review is from: Heartbreakers (2001 Film) (Audio CD)
ok, was i the only one who couldn't believe how much the DANNY ELFMAN score sounded like the work that THOMAS NEWMAN (AMERICAN BEAUTY; THE GREEN MILE; SIX FEET UNDER) has been doing of late? i'm sorry but to me it sounded like ELFMAN was totally copying/ripping off NEWMAN's style--and shamelessly! i have enjoyed ELFMAN's music for years, and always found him quite original, until now....how disillusioning....

i gotta agree with the others who said they missed the BECK tune "tropicalia" from his majorly underrated album, MUTATIONS...bravo to whomever for at least including it in the film! also, from reading other reviews here, i'm not sure what the big deal is about the LENNON tune, but i do feel for those who thot it shoulda made the soundtrack--that's happened to me before too....however, soundtracks do seem to be a good source of new, talented and original artists these days, which is great! keep 'em coming....
