these are a beautiful dark blue...no chalky blue here!!!
they are not as black blue as the picture though. they are large and won't fit in standard cabinetry....so you will have to find a place for them.....
great quality! i saw them at walmart for more!!! i got 25.00 off an entire order of 125.00 and free shipping..which is 20% off.....
you won't be sorry.....they mix and match great with the other colors in their collection! they are a heavy weight.
i purchased the red with these to mix and match...the red on the picture is not the red on the dishes they are a chalky red..almost mauvey red.....i love bright red..so that was a bit of a bum...but they look great alone or with the blue!!!

I liked the square shape of this set and I liked that they are large in comparison to other dinnerware. I have some family members who do not like it if different food items touch, so this works out wonderfully. Also, for those wanting a full plate of food, there is plenty of room.

The bowls are larger than other bowls we have used, which I like. When we used the salad plates under hot bowls, the bowls stayed firmly in place instead of sliding around.

I did have to get used to drinking from the mugs (cups) as they have straight sides instead of being rounded, but they too hold a good amount of whatever you choose to put in them.

I did measure my dishwasher before ordering to be sure the plates clear the wand because another review I read said the plates were too large for the purchaser's dishwasher. They cleared the wand in my dishwasher fine. I like these dishes because they are different.

Two bowls were broken upon intital shipment. I contacted the manufacturer and they immediately sent out replacements.

Everytime I serve a meal on these dishes I am amazed at how stylish it looks. There's no doubt about it---they make a stunning table service. The problem is in the functionality.

First of all, I had to get a plate rack and store the dishes vertically because the 11 1/2 inch plates wouldn't fit in my cabinets. Then I had to raise the shelf above them to fit the vertical plates, which reduced the space there.

Next problem: They wouldn't fit in my dishwasher without raising the top rack to the point where my glasses wouldn't fit. That leaves me with this dilemma: wash the glasses by hand or wash the plates by hand. And if I wash the plates by hand, there usually aren't enough dishes to fill the dishwasher up. (I don't like to waste water and energy by running a partial load.) In short, I do my dishes by hand now.

Final problem: Recent scientific research has indicated that people easily overeat when the dishes are large, and I know that is certainly true for me. The larger plates, bowls, and mugs are SO BIG that I must be on guard not to put too much food in them. The bowl, for example, holds twice as much as my previous dishes---I know because I checked.
