Book Description

9 and upHeartland
In this addition to the Heartland series, Amy realizes she is content with herself and her roles, while those around her struggle to make life decisions and move on.

At last, life is back to normal for Amy. She has returned from visiting her dad's family in Australia, and Ty continues to recuperate after his accident. While things seem to be back in place for Amy, those around her are anticipating change. Lou and Scott are engaged, but Lou is hesitating to set a date. Ben is struggling to devote more time to Red and the show circuit. With so many emotional distractions, Amy dedicates herself to Venture - a police horse with a back injury. But Amy really needs to be devoting the same dedication she has for the horses to her family and friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT ******************************, July 23, 2004

Kayla (lexington, KY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Heartland No. 16: Holding Fast (Mass Market Paperback)
WHen Amy and her sister Lou return from Australia they are very happy to be home. When Lou announces her engagement to Scott Terwin, the local vet, their grandpa's girlfriend Nancy is eager to help plan for the wedding. Lou feels that Nancy is taking her mother's place and is very upset until she finds that she is noth the only one who has suffered loss.
Meanwhile Ben, One of Heartland's two stable hands, makes plans to leave. Amy andthe others are pressed to find a new stable hand. Finally they find one who turns out to be perfect. She is very interested in Heartland's alternative methods and also helps find a cure for an unusual case in one of the horses that come into Heartland. His name Venture, he is a police horse that was injured in a recent storm. (the same on that left Ty, the other stable hand in a coma for weeks) All types of conventional methods have been tried on him and nothing seems to help. He's been Xrayed and inspected and there is not apparent problem. Amy is confident that her methods will help Venture, But when she tries they seem to have no effect. He tenses when she massages him and doesn't care for the essential oils and other natural remedies. When Amy is at the end of the rope, out of ideas to help Venture, the new stable hand really proves her worth when she finds a cure for the seemingly hopeless police horse.
I REALLY enjoyed this book The last couple heartland books were kind of disappointing. I know Lauren Brooke has awesome talent as an author and it really shines in this series! This is one of my favorite books in the series I think it desereves WAY more than 5 stars!!!!!!! Way to go!

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprise Surprise, May 25, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Heartland No. 16: Holding Fast (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is really great. Lou isn't sure if she wants the wedding without her mom there. Amy and Lou also discover that Nancy had a daughter that died at the age of 14. Amy also eventually gets through to Venture and belives there is hope. Joni is a new stable hand at the farm because Ben decides if he is going to advance to the top with Red he needs to be at a competeing stable so he leaves. I was not so surprised with that part because I knew he would want to continue to move up because everyone does. And in order to do that he would need to leave Heartland.
