5.0 out of 5 stars Heartland Curb release
I own both the German and Aussie CDs. The sound is identical. The German release is far superior because it comes with lyrics and more detail about the songs and track times.
'Catch Me I'm Falling' and 'Send Me An angel' are still played today on FM rock stations, particularly in Australia on the Triple M network. Superb album, a must for anyone interested in 80s...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty decent '80s album
"Heartland" by Real Life is an album that contains ten songs, including their big 1983 hit "Send Me An Angel." I still remember the MTV video for this song (back when MTV actually played videos). It was a great video with kind of a spooky atmosphere and a hot chick in it. There was a wolfman also as I recall. This band has a couple of hits ("Catch Me I'm Falling" is the...

4.0 out of 5 stars Forgotten gem!, April 27, 2010

Far and away this had to be one of my all-time favourite releases from the Australian Wave that swept through the 80's. Between Real Life, INXS, The Church, Men at Work, Midnight Oil and several others that distinct aussie sound hammered itself into my brain and remains there to this day. For years I'd scoured for this release - the original, not the late 90's club remix - to no avail. At long last, it has its place in my collection!

This is the second time I have purchased Heartland on CD. I bought the very expensive Curb release that was only printed in West Germany. That CD is a rare one that usually goes upward of $200 when purchased used. This release of Heartland sounds way better then the expensive Curb release. This version doesn't state that it has been remastered, but in my opinion it clearly has. If you want Heartland on CD this is the best way to go, not to mention all the money you will save. The only thing the Curb version has going for it is it comes with lyrics. This version does not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD! - Real Life, Heartland Album - 1983 -, May 26, 2011

I used to have this album from Australian pop group Real Life on cassette when it was released back in 1983. I always wanted to have a CD version, but it's as rare as hen's teeth!...and when I found it on Amazon, I jumped at the chance to get a copy. It was expensive, but well worth it!...the single "Send me an angel" is my favorite tune from these guys. I highly recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Expensive, But Worth It!, July 24, 2010
This review is from: Heartland (Audio CD)
This version is the 2001 Warner Chappell version. It is worth purchasing to obtain the original 1983 version of one of the best songs of the 1980s: "Send Me An Angel." But the rest of the album is also quite good, but firmly entrenched in the 1980's synth-pop sound. This album also includes Real Life's follow-up single, "Catch Me I'm Falling." The title track is a great song, as well. Yes, it's pricey, but the sound quality is excellent and must be remastered because it sounds great! The only drawback is there are no liner notes or lyrics, just a CD cover insert.

It was a great video with kind of a spooky atmosphere and a hot chick in it. There was a wolfman also as I recall. This band has a couple of hits ("Catch Me I'm Falling" is the other hit). You can find the ORIGINAL 1983 version of "Send Me An Angel" on this album. There have been re-recordings of this song by Real Life throughout the years, most notably in 1989. In my opinion, the 1989 version of this song isn't as good as the original 1983 version.

I give "Heartland" three stars. Do I recommend this album? Well, if you want the ORIGINAL 1983 version of "Send Me An Angel" then get this album. The other songs are fair to pretty decent, including the title track. Overall, a pretty decent album.
