Very Very Very Cool Book!, October 13, 2004
This review is from: The Fall of Heartless Horse (Little House on the Bowery) (Paperback)
Listen. I like poetry and I like to read it. Ms. Kinney's experimental prose is more poetic and beautiful than a random sample of a hundred poetry books combined. This book is sweet and hilarious and absurd and touching. Her language is as crisp as a Chuck Berry guitar solo. I think it's great. My guess is that she's a poet in disguise and she somehow slipped this wonderful story of Heartless Horse, Mrs. Heartless Horse, Tadiscule, Ambuscule, Minuscule, the lost daughter, the grandchildren , their lovers, and the ham (that's right, ham) through the curtains of prose and found herself on stage alone, standing positively apart from anything we're bored with. I think it's as fun to read as anything I've ever read. If you like wild, heartbreaking, otherworldly poetry, than this is the book for you. If you don't, this book might change your mind.
I'm just waiting for her next book.
