Without a doubt Kris Allen's best song to date, but not quite as good as the live version,

I picked up this song after remembering how much I had liked Kris' performance of Heartless on American Idol. Until he performed this song I think that he was definitely in the realm of the "also-rans" of the show and this performance helped push him over the top. That being said, the studio version of this song doesn't quite live up to his performance on the show with just the guitar. Of the three versions of this song that I've heard (Kris Allen, The Fray, and of course the original by Kanye West), Kris Allen's is definitely my favorite and brings a certain desperation to the song that the lyrics really convey. Kanye is a great songwriter and can definitely come up with a great hook, but the it's just impossible to translate the type of raw emotion that the lyrics demand when everything that he says is passed through autotune.
