Editorial Reviews

Review

"Seamlessly weaving threads of Babylonian, Norse, and Northwest Native American fables, Brady creates a dark, rich tapestry. The trilogy ends as it began: with beautifully rendered prose and multidimensional characters who capture readers' hearts." - Publishers Weekly

"Brady has a talent for completely bringing the reader into a dark world in an alternate Seattle, full of shapeshifters and magic. The well-crafted world Brady has created is one of the things that sets this series apart in a very popular genre.... The characters are engaging and the mythos is unique, but the spark between Lucia and Corbette is what will really keep the pages turning." - RT Book Reviews

About the Author

Kira Brady writes apocalyptic paranormal romances set in a grisly modern-day Seattle. A native Seattleite, she spent her childhood hiking the rainy forests of the Pacific Northwest and drying out by the fire with a good book and a mug of something hot. She graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania, where she met her real-life Prince Charming and promptly dragged him back to sunless Seattle. She fell in love with historic haunted cities in graduate school. Now she writes about the twisted cities of her imagination, where wraiths and shape-shifters stalk the night and love redeems even the darkest heart. When not writing, she can be found drinking inordinately large mugs of Assam tea, knitting wool socks, and raising a wee heroine-in-training. --This text refers to the MP3 CD edition.

As in each book, the characters are unique in their strengths, weaknesses, and personal journeys.

This complex, lush fantasy world is filled with romance It will enthrall the readers but because of its world building should definitely be read in order.
Bookaholics Reviewer
Overall this was an ok series but there was too much going on at one time which made it difficult to understand the story.

The Deadglass series is so different from all the other paranormal romance series out there is the vast sea of books it is incredibly easy to get sucked into them. If you’re a reader that has grown bored with paranormal romance I can highly recommend this series to break up the monotony. Brady has created a world filled with ancient deity’s, old legends, prophecies and mythologies, filled with dragons and other numerous other powerful shifters.

Lucia and Emory are deeply involved in one of those prophecies. An ancient prophecy that could easily be misinterpreted has Lucia either saving all or bringing it all down. Due to recent events she feels she has already caused too much chaos and destruction. An ancient power hungry evil wants to takeover and bring forth even more devastation. Lucia and Emory have to do what they’ve been avoiding most to save the Kivati and every single other living being that Tiamat sees as her subjects.

I have to admit Lucia is one of those characters that grows on you. At the beginning of the series I saw her a weak and far too child like to ever be a worthy female for the heroine for any book I’d read. The events that have taken place since Hearts of Darkness have molded her into a brave and strong woman. I ended up liking her a great deal. Her fire thawed Emory’s icy heart. She was absolutely what he needed in his life.

Hearts of Chaos may be the end of the Deadglass trilogy, but Kira Brady certainly has something more in store for her fans. You’ll just have to read the exciting conclusion to this exquisitely unique series to find out the little bit that I did. I’m definitely looking forward to where she plans to take it.

What I Loved
Characters
Lucia: In the beginning of the series I wasn't too impressed by her, she was a weak whiny character. By book 2 we got to learn a little more about Lucia and I started thinking ok maybe she does have a little bit of a back bone. By this final book I was way more impressed by her and happy with her personal growth and strength. She still has some moments of weakness that irritate me a little but overall much better.
Emory: We meet him all throughout the other 2 books as well. His character has also been very standoffish and only about being the stone cold hearted leader of his people. Well in this book we final get to understand why he is always so guarded and he finally loosens up a bit.
Romance
Yes lots of romance and lots of sex. But I sometimes felt it was a little too often, I kept on thinking aren't they in a hurry to save the world, but I do think it contributes to there building of trust and there success.
Fantasy
Oh I just love all the fantasy this series has to offer, dragons, shape shifters, God's, humans, magical people etc. Never a dull moment in my ruined city of Seattle.
Trilogy
I also love trilogies. Perfect amount of story to enjoy while not having to wait forever for it to be finished. However I will miss this world Kira has created along with the amazing characters. The story ended well and I'm happy with how things ended. However the epilogue was killer, I'm so hoping for a spin off series to be announced.

Didn't Like
The series has come to an end, I'm hoping for more spin off series.

Recommendation
A must read for paranormal romance lovers.

I absolutely LOVED Hearts of Chaos. It's like choosing between your children to pick a favorite from this Trilogy, but I have to admit I liked this one the best. :)

This final book of the trilogy finds us in the same gritty, amazing, post-apocalyptic world Brady built for the previous two, but following a new pair of heroes - Lucia and Corbette. As in each book, the characters are unique in their strengths, weaknesses, and personal journeys. Perhaps I liked this book the best because of how I felt I related to Lucia, but she has been a character in the previous books that we have come to know, like, care about, and see grow along the way. It is wonderful to see her develop further and really come into her own in this book.

Another aspect of Hearts of Chaos that I loved was the time the characters spend in the Land of the Dead. World-building is what Brady does best, and she is in fine form here, creating a living, breathing, "dead" space. Lucia and Corbette must go on a quest through this land that will test everything they know about themselves and each other, and it is simply riveting!

Although any of the books in this series can be read as a stand-alone book, I would highly recommend reading the first two books before reading Hearts of Chaos because (1) they're also awsome, and (2) you will love Hearts of Chaos that much more.

The only negative I can say is that this is the last book and I want it to go on!

Hearts of Chaos was incredible. Never a dull moment while reading the entire Deadglass series and the third installment was no exception. Lucia’s transformation from a broken shell of a woman to the brave and courageous Crane was beautiful. Reading Emory’s self-discovery was very moving. You have to hit rock bottom to see all you really have, loose everything to know what you really need and want in life. The detailed story lines and incredible characters made Hearts of Chaos impossible to put down.

I had not read the series when I started Hearts of Chaos. I got about 5 pages in and decided I needed to do my homework. I immediately went to Amazon and bought the prequel and book one and two. I have found a new author to watch!
