This exciting, romantic book was set against the backdrop of the Civil War. Elizabeth is a Southern belle from Virginia who was sent to a Charleston, South Carolina boarding school to become a "proper" young lady. But at the school's Christmas ball, Elizabeth meets Adam, a Yankee lietentant that she falls in love with. Elizabeth's father would forbid her to see him. The North and the South have become a divided nation. Will Elizabeth's loyalties lie with her country or her heart?

This is a very inticing book and the setting is great for people who like historical fiction. Elizabeth is a southern belle who met the man of her dreams right before the war broke out. When she's caught in the middle of what her father wants, what she wants, and the middle of fighting all around her, she has to mature from the person she was and put back what her heart wants and help others in need. Will she ever be able to be with the love of her life?

I love Hearts Divided because it really could have happened and it is well written. Also the other books in this series are exellent.
