A family saga begins in 1773 Boston.,
This review is from: Hearts and Dreams: Katherine (Paperback)
This is the first book in the Hearts and Dreams series, a saga that traces the story of a fictional family throughout American history through the lives of four young women. Katherine Morrison is a teenage girl living in Boston just prior to the American Revolution. She sides with her patriot father, and that distances her from her loyalist mother. Kit, as she is called, desperarley wants to play a part in fighting British tyranny, but as a girl, she is expected to help with the household chores until she finds a suitable husband. When Kit spots a young man being chased by loyalists, she hides him in her room until they go away. She is drawn to the young man, whose name is Will. Although he leaves once the coast is clear, Kit hopes that they will meet again, because she is falling in love with him. This was a wonderful historical love story for teens who enjoy these types of books.

...sorry i just couldn't resist! anyway, this is about one girls fight for freedom, love, and her right to speak her opinions. It redifines the word adventure. Freedom takes on a different form, and risk is shown in a different light. The courage and stength of the charcters are displayed flawlessly upon each page you turn. Katherine, portrays women's rights with fire and carisma. This is a book of love, courage, and how you have to follow your dreams but still mind others people's too. a heart felt novel, with a touch of untamed fire.

My cousin gave me the first two books in this series. For some reason i read Charlotte first. It was so great, i couldn't imagine how Katherine could be better. But it turns out i couldn't put Katherine down. It's got to be the best book i've ever read! So if you enjoy history, romance, and adventure, then Katherine is THE book to read! So what are you waiting for? Pick up the book and READ IT!!! Hope you enjoy it as much as i did!

This is by far the most amazing book i have ever read. The way that she will risk anything for her loved one really touched my heart. I am still waiting for the other books to arrive. I hope that it will be just as good as this book. This book shows courage and shows that someone doesn't have to be another person to be accepted. There will always be someone that will accept you as who you are.

Love This Book...,
By Ashley (South Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hearts and Dreams: Katherine (Paperback)
I fell in love with this book as soon as I read the excerpt on the back of it. I became so involved in the book that i read it just a few hours! Dokey's use of detail effectively brought the story to life.I fell in love with charactors and thier world as if i were tking part in the action. It had me cheering for Kit and Bold Will till the end. When i had finnished the book, I immediately had to get my hads on the sequel, "Charlotte:Heart of Hope". Once again Dokey delivers a heartwarming novel of adventure and love. This irresitable spirit is again successfully reflected in "Stephanie:Heart of Gold" and "Carrie:Heart of Courage", the final two books of the series. After finishing the entire series for the third time, I began to wonder. What would the next generations of Kelly women be like? What adventure will they embark on next? And ultimately, what keepsake would they tuck away into the fine hope chest, telling of thier legacy.

Wonderful!,

This review is from: Hearts and Dreams: Katherine (Paperback)
This is definately one of my most favorite books. I first read it when I was 12-years-old when my sister and I took turns reading aloud one quiet summer day. Kathrine is a spunky, intelligent and funny herorine who captures your heart from the very beginning. A young girl who longs for adventure and who has incredible courage. I fell in love with 'Bold Will' and the rest of the endearing charactures from the start. It's one of those books that sucks you in from the first page to the last and leaves you feeling happy, satified, a sad to see it end!I have read this so many times and I am sure that I will continue to read it many more times. This book inspired me to try to write my own stories and helped kindle my dream to be an author someday. So thanks, Cameron Dokey, for giving us such a great book!

I absolutely loved this book! I can't imagine how it could have been better. I laughed, cried, booed, and felt love at different parts of the book! Truly a must for anyone who likes adventure, romance, drama, and history! I didn't like Charlotte as much; I don't know why, but I'm trying to get Stephanie and Carrie. Who know's what they'll be like?

Believe and dream...,
By Emma Caroline (Horse Creek, North Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hearts and Dreams: Katherine (Paperback)
Katherine sees a young man across the street from her front door. She senses the intensity of his mission; she knows he will stop at nothing short of death. Spontaniously she beckons to him. She has to help him somehow. He sprints for her door... and the fantasy romance of the two begins. This book is so incredible; it leaves you yearning for more- even just a few more pages. Kit (Katherine's nickname) learns there is more to adventure than just excitement and constant mahem, and both Kit and the young gentleman learn there is always room for hopes in dreams even when it seems it is the end. A book of betrayal, adventure, and dreams, this story keeps you believing and gives much meaning to love at first sight.
