4.0 out of 5 stars A good book
This book was a really good book. I love the type book, it is set back in history when orphans used to ride trains to be adopted by whoever had a good heart. This book was excellent, though not as good as the other three in the Orphan Train series because it did drag in areas because it was a much longer book. I do reccomend this book as well as the whole series as a...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Hearts Lonely Secret by Jane Peart
This is an interesting story if two girls with a special bond of friendship as they arrived on the same orphan train but did not go exactly to the homes that they were supposed to go to. 3.0 out of 5 stars The Hearts Lonely Secret by Jane Peart, January 16, 2010
This is an interesting story if two girls with a special bond of friendship as they arrived on the same orphan train but did not go exactly to the homes that they were supposed to go to. The guilt of this home exchange bothered one girl a great deal but it had no affect on the other girl as she knew nothing about it. This is a good book that can be enjoyed by 6th through 8th grade readers. The Orphan Trains actually existed as it was hoped that all orphans were placed in homes that offered love and kindness. Unfortuntely, some children were treated unkindly and worked as slaves until they either ran away or reached 18 and were free to leave.
