An Indiana native, Betty Jo Schuler and her husband now live in Florida where she gazes out the window at sunshine and tropical scenery while pursuing her lifelong love of working with words. The author of twenty-two books, she writes for children, teens, and adults. A former elementary teacher with a BS and MA in education, Betty Jo is an instructor for Writers Digest University where she teaches online writing courses. She's taught romance classes and fundamentals of writing for children but most recently, she's been working with students who want to publish young adult novels. Despite its very promising premise, "Heartthrob" fails to live up to its potential.

The plot opens on chronic do-gooder Sam Morrison, who, with the help of long-time pal Mike Lindley, convinces her parents to allow her to add candy striper to her long list of service-oriented extracurricular activities. Complications arise when Sam clashes with a handsome, mysterious patient known only as Bill Smith, and buddy Mike grows jealous of all the attention Sam is forced to give to Bill.

If all of this sounds a little convoluted, that's probably because it is. While it may be possible to overlook the uneven pacing and the contrived, one-dimensional characters, this novel is ultimately doomed by its anti-climactic and somewhat disappointing ending.

I love stories about best friends turning into something more and this is a very good example of this. The story is very sweet and you'll really enjoy this a lot. Sweet Dreams is the best teen series and I highly recommend everything else in the series. If you like this story, you might also like Blame It On Love, Fair-Weather Love, Wrong-Way Romance, BAckstage Romance, Partners In Love, The Trouble With Charlie and a lot more! Enjoy reading!
