From the Actor

Hi, I'm Dave DeWitt and they call me "The Pope of Peppers." It was a blast to write, co-produce, and star in the first-ever documentary on chile peppers. We tried to make it as entertaining as possible, so you may find yourself laughing (I hope). Please see the other two volumes in this set of "Heat Up Your Life," and please note my books on chiles for sale at amazon.com.

Product Description

A unique New Mexico partnership has released a three-part video documentary on chile peppers and hot & spicy foods called Heat Up Your Life! The project, which took six years to complete, is a joint venture between private business and a university. The partners are Sunbelt Shows, Inc., an Albuquerque show production company that produces the National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show, and the Leading Object Media Group of New Mexico State University, which has a state-of-the-art video production facility in Las Cruces.

Heat Up Your Life! has been released to the home and educational video markets and is unique in that it is the only documentary ever made on chiles and spicy foods. It was videotaped on location in Mexico, Guatemala, The Bahamas, Jamaica, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. It covers the entire realm of chile pepper knowledge, including history, botany, agriculture, processing, manufacturing, retailing, marketing, and cooking.

Heat Up Your Life! is co-produced, written, and hosted by Dave DeWitt, the worlds foremost expert on chile peppers and the author or coauthor of 30 books on the subject of chiles and spicy foods. Co-producer Patrick Holian is an award-winning documentary producer at the Leading Object Media Group at NMSUs College of Agriculture and Home Economics.

Episode 1, Peppers and People, tells the amazing story of how chile peppers have changed our world. Episode 2, From Seed to Salsa, follows the humorous and fascinating path from chile seed to commercial products. Episode 3, Hot Plates, explores the worlds southern latitudes for exotic chile pepper cuisines.
