What a great obscure jazz recording!!! "In Heat" by the Dee Felice Trio is an awesome jazz album, great drums(Dee Felice),piano(Frank Vincent)and bass(Lee Tucker)!!! My favorite is The Crickets Song with an incredible drum solo by Dee Felice!!!Some great jazzy covers include Oh Happy Day,Wichita Lineman,Both Sides Now,and Summer In The City!!! But the rest of the album is awseome too!!! Great 20-bit remasering!!! And to top it off,its a James Brown(The Funkmaster!) production to boot!!! A keeper!!! Two thumbs up!! Five stars!!! A+

It sounds more like the group (Dee Felice Trio) did the production work, and James Brown just got all of the credit. Let's move on to the music...If you loved The Ramsey Lewis Trio during their heyday then you're truly gonna enjoy this album. Aside from "Oh Happy Day" that has the un-needed Background Singers...Now I think it's safe to say that on THIS cut James Brown probley did have a hand in it. Once you get pass that 1 (One) Every cut is a winner! The version of "There Was A Time" on this album is the Single Version which was released on 45 in late 1969 has Horns Overdub in it. There was an earlier version that appeared on a James Brown album entitled "Gettin' Down To It" that featured The Dee Felice Trio as the backing band (See my Review) that was released a few Month's before this album was released that had the SAME Version but without the Horns. BOTH Versions of "There Was A Time" are still much sampled and Club Favorites. This album is on the mark!
