This book changed my view of gardening. USDA go by the number of cold days and many areas have extended high tempuratures instead. I now garden with high soil temps in mind. Not very many plants are rated, but quite a few that are rated for my zone, wont withstand the heat. Saves money.

I initially checked this book out of the library and found it to be a valuable tool to use when selecting plants for my garden. I live in Sacramento where the temperatures can soar into the 110 degree range in the summer and dip into the 20s in the winter. This book identified every plant that has thrived in my garden under these conditions. So, unless you live along the coast, where the temperatures are mild, get this book! It'll save you money in the long run.

Good information for any gardener wanting to know what plants will thrive in your region. "It is easier to match plants to your soil than it is to modify your entire soil." Includes photographs and description of plants (4 plants per page), including USDA hardiness zone, AHS heat zone info, height, plant type, soil and lighting conditions.

Pull up your socks guys. The book in question has two authors: the Snr author is H. Marc Cathey and the 2nd author is Linda Bellamy. You erroneously indicate that there are 3 authors.
