Feel The Heat - Old School AOR,
By jeffrey343 "jeffrey343" (Plano, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Heat (MP3 Download)
This album has been generating a buzz for a while, and it definitely lives up to the hype. H.e.a.t is a group of six guys from Sweden, all in their early 20s (as far as I can tell) who obviously have embraced the style of AOR that was popular when they were toddlers. Their debut album, "Heat", contains 12 tracks (plus a brief non-music intro) that sound like they could have been recorded in 1990 (and that's a compliment).Lead vocalist Kenny Leckremo has a fine voice for this material. Being from Sweden, there is definitely a slight European accent to be found, but that's not an issue at all. The overall musicianship is first-rate - great guitar work, melodic solos, just the right amount of keys. The production is also of high quality. The style of music is more of the hard rock / AOR style as opposed to the "hair metal" style that was all over the place 20 years ago. If you're looking for comparisons, some names to consider are Europe, Giant, Talisman, and Fair Warning. And I'll also throw out the debut Nelson album, although this is not quite as poppy as that one. While I definitely recommend getting the whole album, you can buy the MP3 tunes a la carte. My favorites of the bunch are "Feel It Again" and "There For You". But you won't go wrong getting all of them. If you're looking for something new that sounds like your favorite CDs from two decades ago, check this out. It is inexpensive enough that you can afford to take a gamble on it, although my bet is that you'll love it. It is very refreshing to know that this style of music is still being created, and I hope these guys keep up the good work.

Wow! That about sums up this CD. It doesn't get any better than this in the modern era. It's like hearing Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet, Giant - Last Of The Runaways/Time To Burn or Def Leppard - Hysteria for the first time. It just blows you away. The musicianship is better than anything out there today. I hope these guys do well, they deserve it. All the CD tracks are hits, no fillers. If you like bands like Fair Warning, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Giant, Europe, or Scandi AOR then you must own this.
