He loves it and we are happy to know our cat stays nice and warm on these cold nights.

We do put a thin towel over the mat to make it easier to clean even though the instructions advise not putting anything on top of the mat.

My Hedgehog loves it, I put it in her cage and she went and curled right up on it and slept on it all night.

With below freezing temperatures this week these heated pads are a "must have". The two feral cats who adopted us have to stay outdoors due to our allergies. I purchased two of these, just in time for the first winter storm of the season, and I can tell the cats really appreciate them. In addition to the heated pads I also purchased the fleece cover made by the same company K&H, I figured it would be more comfortable since the heat pad is rigid; with or without the fleece cover it's so cold I think the cats are just happy to have a warm spot. I placed the heated pad on top of their beds and both kitties quickly snuggled down in their beds.

We found ourselves with a stray cat living in our back yard. Not looking for an indoor pet, but feeling sorry for the poor guy, we bought this product and put it in a small structure. We had some of the coldest weather I can remember in Michigan and this unit worked perfectly. I am sure it saved the little guy's life.

The second I put this in my hedgehog's cage he instantely got on it and fell asleep. He loves it. I hardly ever see him sleeping anywhere else.

I got this heating pad to help heat my hedgehog's cage during sub 70 F degree temperatures. It warms up so that it is quite warm, but not too hot at all to touch (won't burn). The covered cord is great, very chew proof (my hedgie tested it thoroughly). It does make a weird humming noise that comes and goes, which was disturbing at first - I kept rushing over to make sure nothing was burning - but turned out not a huge issue. The pad has an unfortunately very slick surface and also has instructions not to put any sheet or cloth covering on it, which was a problem for me. I wanted to use it for heat under my hedgie's sleeping spot (a plastic igloo) but the igloo just slid right off it. My hedgie didn't like to be on it for long either, likely due to how hard and slick it was. Also, make note that this really is ONLY a heating pad for direct contact - it does not heat the air around it one bit. So it really was not useful for MY particular hedgehog and cage setup, as he wouldn't sit on it, it was not able to work in/under his sleeping place (where he is 95% of the time), and it does not heat the air in his cage - LOL! I will keep it for emergency heating purposes, but I do think I would need to use it in a smaller cage or in his travel carrier to be sure he'd be in contact with the heat. *For all you hedgie owners* I have recently purchased a ceramic heating system with adjustable temperature that has so far worked marvelously for my hedgie - keeps the whole open aired cage warm and keeps the temperature on an even keel.

We got this heating pad with the insulated cedar cat house we bought for our outside cat.
This will be the third year of use and it has kept the cat warm and cozy even in the coldest winter weather.
I am going to buy one more just for a back up.
It is rigid and should have a pad with it for comfort.
Nice part of it is I didn't notice any change in our electric bill running it all the time from November till end of April.

This is a great small mat for small animals like say a rabbit or guinea pig. It literally saved my little rabbit's life when she got a cold durring the cold winter months. It even healed her runny eyes. The heat source is one heat only and there's no changing it but this has not nor ever been a problem for me. The cord was never eaten by her except for when the cord was taken down for the summer and it somehow fell behind the cage. Needless to say she ate thru the unprotected area of the cord that was not pulgged in (Yes they love to chew don't they!) I have used this mat for 2 winters now & have been very happy with it. The animals like to lay on it and it seems to be comfortable for them. It's a great product for aging animals and helps to keep them healthy. The seller here on amazon is fantastic and ships promptly. I decided to get this heating mat for my ginea pig also and she's in love with it too. So it works well indoors & outdoors! I hope this helps you & your little ones too.

My Marans just started laying eggs but they are freezing in the nestbox because of the cold winter here in western Pennsylvania. After several days searching for the right size heated mat to put in the bottom of the nestbox, I came across this 9" x 12" item. Most nest-boxes are 12 x 12 inches. Mine are too. A real problem when one needs a SMALL heated mat which doesn't need to be folded for use. I am very happy to find this mat and ordered one right away. It's hard surface, can handle outdoor use, so ok in the nestbox. This mat is thermostatically controlled. A great plus for the money! I already have K & H Manufacturing 'Thermocube' external electric thermostat. So if I find I need a thermostat which is external to the mat, I am good-to-go. The thermostat in the mat controls the heat the mat puts out. The Thermocube senses environmental temps. It turns the electricity on to the mat at about 35 degrees and turns the electricity off at about 48 degrees. Karen in western PA

We have been feeding a feral cat who had been rescued as a tiny kitten (not housebroken, sadly). She has a nice shelter I made out of 2 different size plastic bins with hay stuffed between them and a flap over the openings cut out of the end. She is approximately 15 now and I felt badly that she couldn't be warmer. Now she is toasty with her new mat. When she comes out for her meals I put my hand in to see if it's warm and it truely is. She loves it. Well worth the price.
