If you bought this thinking it would provide "securty", then you are mistaken.

I recently bought two items in this Wireless Command line, this one as well as a remote-motion-outdoor lamp controller. Both are highly unpredictable and unreliable.

Best I can tell the motion sensor/transmitter unit seems to work well as a motion sensor (ie the LED lights up), but transmission to the receiver unit is very unreliable. With the receiver only 10 feet away or so there are times when the unit works as advertised, but 1/2 the time it has to be unplugged/reset and plugged back in to start picking up again.

The motion sensor unit is the same as is with lamp controls, so it does not behave how you'd want if you are just looking for a motion-activated entry alarm. Even at perfect operation it will not alert you of continued movement, only triggering the beeping once every few minutes or so.

When the reciever is installed inside the house, motion outside, it seems to be out of range at only 20 feet or so (through wood and sheetrock walls). It advertises 100ft.

Bottom line is this thing is much more of a toy than anything that might add to a security system. May be suited to provide some novelty close range automation, like scaring small children or dogs. It should be considered an "insecurity system".

Bought two of these units before reading any reviews. Took one back thinking it was defective and bought two more. Now I have four that do little more than waste hours of my time setting and resetting. I have switched frequencies and everything else conceivable with no results. Save your money and buy a real security device.

It is a surprise to see a name brand item perform so poorly. There is no secret fix. It is simply BOGUS. After 40 years as an electrician in several industries and an afternoon of disbelief the conclusion is this should be taken off the shelf. The other reviews tell the story. No stars because even one star suggests it is possible to make it work with great effort or repair. Two sets only worked for a couple of cycles then had to be reset by removing batteries and wall power.

So far so good, The video tells it all. I'm planning to buy a second one to install in my lanai.Even after all the negative reviews I decided to buy it and I'm very pleased. It is reliable and works just fine for me. I adjusted sensor's range control to minimal to avoid false trigger, due its sensibility. This one is my first review and I will update it if something goes wrong.

UPDATE 03/16/2013 Still working fine, I have changed the battery only once in 2 years.

I bought two of these sensors at Home Depot. They cannot be relied on to sound an alarm, and even when they do, it is barely audible.

It is discouraging that a company that was a leader in its field can produce junk like this, and, apparently, be unresponsive to customer feedback. The user reviews for this product go back more than two years. If Heath Zenith is not listening, Amazon should at least take notice and pull this item out of its offerings.

More and more, it is caveat emptor. Neither manufacturers nor distributors seem to have the customer's best interests in mind.

Unit works as described. When sent, sensor and receiver were not on the same channel. After that easy fix, my unit has been operational on my front porch mounted in a semi-weathered location. It has a small cover overhead, but still gets pretty wet. In little protection and from warm to freezing temperatures, I recharge the batteries every 2 months and have not had a problem in the last 4 months, including just a bit of snow and ice.

Toying with the sensitivity and relocating the sensor was necessary to avoid constant false alerts, but with patience I was able to make it to alert INCREDIBLY accurately. There may be communication issues if you intend to place your sensor and receiver near large electrics or electronics. Although I can't say the range is great, I can definitely say it's acceptable. My setup is approximately 20 feet from outside to inside, through one exterior wall and around one interior wall.

The biggest drawback - by far - is how little power this device can deliver. You may need to worry about the limitation of 300 watts. You have to use a small bulb in a simple lamp. I wish that this would have been beefed up to be able to power whatever devices I want with it, such as a larger lamp or tv/radio.

The cost was high (about $50 including shipping) for what is a simple RF motion sensor with such a huge limitation, but this was the only of this type of unit I could find.

I would've loved to give this unit a rating of 4, but with such a huge issue with power and high pricetag I can only give it a rating of 3.

I used this plug and sensor in my kitchen. I installed puck lighting under the cabinets and then use the plug and sensor. lights automatically come on as i enter the kitchen. I didn't give it a full 5 stars cause I technically didn't use the item as intended. I just turned down the volume on the alarm so it doesn't go off. So there are more uses for the product than just security. The sensor and the plug are only feet away from each other. Maybe this is the reason for it working so great for me. Im purchasing another for my garage.
